  • Introducing Asafa Powell, Jamaican sprinter

Asafa Powell has been one of the best sprinters in the world for nearly a decade. The problem is, he is running in an era with the likes of Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and others.

Powell has set the world record for the 100 meter four times! Did you see that, let me repeat that one, FOUR times! He has taken the 100 meter record from 9.77 to 9.74, and then, to 9.72!

Sprinting is a challenging, difficult task. At the very top of the global sprint world, hundredths of a second. Asafa Powell took fifth in Athens and Beijing 100 meters. He was on the WR 4 x 100m relay in Beijing. In 2007, Asafa took the bronze in the 100 meters and was on the silver medal winning 4 x 100m team for Jamaica. In 2009, another bronze in the 100 meters and the gold medal relay team!

2011 was ended by injury , but Asafa Powell is looking very good for his upcoming races. He pulled out of the AVIVA London 100 meters. " I have a small injury and I am not going to chance anything. I will be ready for August 5." August 5? Just you wait and see!
