Fall is the season of pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider, and football, which means it’s basically the best of the four seasons. If you’re like us, you’re already creating that “Things to Do This Fall” list.
From pumpkin-picking to family hayrides, there are tons of things to do in Charlotte this fall before Halloween comes around. (Speaking of Halloween, we’ve got a list of cool events for that too!)
We’ll update this list as more events pop up, but for now, here are some of our fave fall activities!
The Great Pumpkin Fest is one of our favorite fall family-friendly events to go to. This year, Carowinds is expanding the area where The Great Pumpkin Fest will be held, which means there’s more room for some fall activities!
Along with all of Camp Snoopy’s seasonal activities, Carowinds is creating an all-new Great Pumpkin Fest Activity Trail with a challenge course, corn maze, hay bale maze, games, crafts, and more. We can’t wait to go check it out!
Who doesn’t love visiting the Whitewater Center?! Whenever the fall season rolls around, the USNWC hosts their Fall Festival, which is a must-do if you ask us. There will be a full day of races, fall-themed yoga classes, cider sampling, and a crowd-favorite: the Build Your Own Boat Competition.

There’s nothing better than some fresh apples for a made-from-scratch apple pie. For some u-pick orchards, you can already go ahead and start picking apples, but we suggest checking the availability before you go! Hours and prices vary.
Not exactly a “fall activity,” but it’s definitely a Carolina staple this time of the year. History comes alive with non-stop, all-day entertainment, arts and crafts, games, jousting tournaments, and more.
There will also be unique rides such as Da Vinci’s Flying Machine, the World’s Largest Rocking Horse, and Voyage to the New World. We can smell the turkey legs already!
Pro tip: You can save $26.00 on opening weekend admission by receiving two adult tickets for the price of one with purchase at the Festival box office with a valid coupon. (Valid on October 5th and 6th only.) Get the coupon here!
