Embrace The Suck: Military slang to consciously accept or appreciate something that is extremely unpleasant.
As runners, we all need to be able to push through those difficult times during training and racing. Pain and discomfort are inevitable. You have to start planning for it and understand how to deal with it when it comes. In training, look for when the pain comes and take note of your thoughts. Instead of allowing your mind to go negative, "embrace the suck" and change the conversation. A good way to do that is to focus on technique, count your steps or flashback to a great memory. Do what is necessary to remain upbeat and positive. And before you know it, your Endorphines will kick in and you'll be on track!
