Description

VIP Summer Fab Lab Boot CAMP , laser, 3D printing, INVITATION ONLY is happening on Monday,August 07,2023 at 01:30PM to Thursday,August 10,2023 at 04:30PM at Lake Michigan College with tickets starting at $249.

If you've taken part of our regular bootcamp series in previous years, then this camp is for you. You will get a brief reintroduction to the equipment in the lab. Then you will embark on 4 days of project completion. We have two large projects to complete for the lab and we need your creativity and help. The projects include a 3D filament recycle machine as well as coin (token) pusher arcade machine (similar to what you may have seen in an arcade).

VIP BootCamp focuses on problem solving, creativity as well as developing some technical skills to complete the projects at hand. Six participants will be chosen and they will need to work collaboratively in order to complete these tasks. Techs will be available for guidance, but the participants are going to come up with the ideas for completion. Participants should be at least 12 years of age at the time of the camp. Younger participants will be accepted if there's still seats available.

Please note that there are no take home items in this camp. This is a camp to get the participants to work together and develop more critical thinking and problem solving skills. Failure will happen (and we encourage that, since that's how we learn) but the focus will be on overcoming those failures to achieve success. Participants identified to take part in this camp will have NO OUT OF POCKET expense. We are utilizing grant money to pay for this camp.

PARTICIPANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER APRIL 1ST OF THEIR ACCEPTANCE.

Registration for this camp closes one week prior to allow time to purchase required materials. Registration is limited. Projects are subject to change based on material availability. Once registered, you'll receive an email asking for the participant(s) name, age, and gender for our instructor's roster. If you have questions, please email them to[email protected].

Lake Michigan College practices COVID-19 safety guidelines set forth by the CDC, the State of Michigan, and/or the college itself. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to follow those protocols.

By "purchasing" a ticket, you consent to following all the rules related to the Fab Lab and any others to maintain safety for all participants within the lab.

The Fab Lab is a place where students can build science, technology, engineering and math skills through hands on learning. Participating in Fab Lab activities allow students to explore and experiment with digital fabrication technology including 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, and Vinyl Cutters.
