Our Perfect Day in St. Augustine

St. Augustine may be the oldest city in America, but there is nothing outdated about this active tourist town. With a stellar food scene, plenty of attractions, historic monuments, and even great surfing – St. Augustine brings the entertainment. We love starting our day at the Kookaburra Downtown for some great coffee and then strolling down St. George Street for unique shopping! Be sure to check out the Fort Matanzas for a look at how Spanish soldiers protected Floridian coasts back in 1740!

Afterward, if you’re lucky and visiting during the holidays, check out the Night of Lights! It has been listed as one of the top holiday lights displays in the world by National Geographic! During this annual festival, Downtown St. Augustine glows with holiday magic across its stunning Spanish Colonial architecture. Lastly, grab some grub and a drink at The Floridian restaurant for the perfect nightcap to the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the Old City.

Plan your visit

St. Augustine has so many areas and activities to see, it's important to not overwhelm yourself. Don't pack too much in for one day and take some time to explore!

Rent a bike/scooter

Downtown St. Augustine can quickly become congested and it's often very hard to find parking. By finding alternative means of transportation, you can see more and explore the little cobblestone streets.

St. George Street is packed with cute and unique shops that must be visited! We love all the quirky clothes and handmade items for sale. It's the perfect place to find a souvenir!

Spend one day at the beach

One really cool thing about St. Augustine is that it not only offers plenty of city activities, but the beach is also really close by! Head over to Anastasia Island for the "surfside" part of town. Here, you can find really great tacos, the best drink specials, and fun surf shops.

Leave room for dessert

You do not want to miss out on some of the best dessert places in St. Augustine. From Kilwin's ice cream to epic milkshakes, there is not shortage of places to cure your sweet tooth along St. George Street.
