5 Delicious Vegan and Vegetarian Options in Channelside

A Story By

If you’re on a plant-based diet, you know it can be a challenge to find good vegan or vegetarian food when you go out to eat. But Channelside is a very vegan- and vegetarian-friendly neighborhood in Tampa Bay with plenty of options other than your typical french fries, salad, and side veggies. No matter what kind of food you’re craving, Channelside has many yummy restaurants that serve up delicious vegan and vegetarian menus.

Check out these 5 restaurants that serve vegan and vegetarian options in Channelside today!

If you love getting your produce from local farmers markets and community-shared agriculture boxes, then you’ll love Naked Farmer’s whole approach to food! They serve up amazing dishes made from seasonal, locally sourced produce from area farmers. And their menu is inspired by that season’s crops.

Grab one of their all-plants dishes with baby bok choy and radicchio, chickpeas, and celery topped with a homemade pecan-kale caesar dressing. If you’re pescatarian and still eat fish, you can try their salmon dish with brown rice, avocado, charred broccoli with lemon and garlic, and a homemade cider vinaigrette. You can also get their chicken or beef dishes sans the meat or build your own platter full of delicious cooked veggies, like green beans with cashews, and their to-die-for mac ‘n’ cheese.

Finish off your meal with a slice of blueberry-lemon pound cake (for vegetarians-only, since it’s made with animal products) and a glass of wine, a local beer, or hard seltzer. They even have beer from a UNATION Tampa Bay favorite brewery: 3 Daughters!

Bamboozle is one of the best restaurants to get vegan and vegetarian options in Channelside because they have a whole plant-based menu alongside their regular menu! If you’re also gluten-free, they’ve got a special menu with GF items, too!

This Southeast Asian cuisine staple makes vegan- and vegetarian-friendly versions of their amazing rolls. Instead of barbecue pork, you can get barbecue jackfruit, which has a similar consistency and lots of sweet BBQ flavor. Go with some veggie standards like avocado or tofu rolls, too. Or, you can make your own amazing creation with your choice of protein, four veggies, and a dressing, like their shallot vinaigrette or citrus vinaigrette.

But Bamboozle isn’t all rolls! You can get vegan pho, bahn mi sandwiches made with jackfruit or lemongrass tofu, one of their delicious salads (you’ve got to try the Vietnamese green papaya salad!), or a bowl with your choice of greens or rice as a base, five veggies, a dressing, and an herb.

Pair your meal with a smoothie, which they can make with dairy-free mylk, sweet and creamy Vietnamese iced coffee made or their house coffee made with condensed coconut milk. And they even swap out their other specialty drinks each day, so you’ll always have a new drink and meal combo to try!

The Farmacy Vegan Kitchen & Bakery motto is “trust your eyes, your tastebuds will thank you” because they serve up dishes you know and love but sneakily with plant-based twists.

The first time you come here, you might think you’re getting real meat and cheese because of how mouthwatering everything looks and smells. Philly cheesesteak sandwiches that look imported from Pennsylvania, burgers and sandwiches that’ll have you doing a double-take, and mac ‘n’ cheese that may bring a tear to your eye. But if you’re looking for salads and wraps, Farmacy has jerk tofu, buffalo chick’n, tempeh-based BLT, and curried chickpeas.

You can also satiate your sweet tooth at Farmacy when you order something decadent from the bakery side of things. They’ve got donuts, whoopie pies, brownies, cupcakes, and more! You must try their chocolate avocado brownies — they’re so rich and fudgy. Or, you can stay on the healthier side and split an acai bowl with the table. These bowls are made with blended acai and other fruits and then topped with more fruit, house-made gluten-free granola, chia seeds, peanut butter, and more.

Since the menu stocks plenty of favorites, you can bring your non-plant-based friends and family here and get whatever you’re craving!

If you’re a major fruit-lover, then Fit Bowl Co. should be your new favorite spot!

This restaurant serves up the best fruit-forward vegan and vegetarian options in Channelside. They’ve got smoothie bowls (hence their name), smoothies, and soft serve in both dairy and dairy-free varieties. Plus, they specialize in adding superfood boosters to help you get the protein, fiber, and other important nutrients you need.

Feeling something a bit tropical? Get their Davis Islander superfood smoothie bowl. This bad boy is acai, pineapple, mango, and banana all blended together with coconut water. Want a little glow? This and their other bowl options are all topped with hemp-flax granola and your choice of other toppings, making them great if you’re looking for a healthy-yet-filling breakfast or brunch.

You can also grab a smoothie if you’re on the go or just want something a bit more on the lighter side. They’re made with the same awesome ingredients as the bowls, like acai, berries galore, and bananas but also add in cinnamon, cacao, agave, and almond milk. Or, get one of their fresh juices, coffee, or matcha.

Poké is a delicious combination of rice, veggies, sauces, and toppings like seaweed, pineapple, avocado, and wasabi peas. While fish like ahi tuna and salmon are staple proteins in poké bowls, you can also get plant-based options like tofu and just veggies at The Poké Company in Channelside!

The best part: you can even get your unique creation made in burrito form, perfect for on-the-go eating! Get your bowl or burrito with a rice base, like white, brown, or cauliflower. Then, add tofu if you’re looking for protein. Mix in edamame, onion, cilantro, seaweed, or cucumber. Top it with scallions, sesame seeds, pickled ginger, or tempura flakes. Finish it off with options like ponzu sauce, spicy mayo, carrot ginger sauce, wasabi aioli, or miso.
