Food trucks are a staple around Austin to enjoy convenient and delicious foods and desserts! We especially love checking out food trucks in the summertime when the sun is out, so now is the perfect time to add some to your bucket list. If you find yourself around the University of Texas campus, we’ve got you covered!
Whether you’re getting out of class and need a pick-me-up, exploring the university, or grabbing a bite to eat before or after the big game, check out this guide for some of the best food trucks around UT!
Who knew frozen bananas covered in sweet dips and toppings could be such a hit? Bananarchy is revolutionizing the art of dessert by allowing customers to build their own bananas! Plus, it’s in Space 24 Twenty, which is one of our favorite hangout spots near campus, featuring Lucky Lab Coffee Co. Grab a banana, a coffee, and enjoy the outdoor seating!
This food truck will quickly satisfy your sweet tooth! Cold Cookie Company offers an assortment of ice cream flavors, cookie choices, and toppings for incredible ice cream sandwiches. You can also keep it simple and get ice cream in a cup, cone, or shake, which all come with an extra cookie of your choice on the side!
If you’re wanting large portions of incredible food for a reasonable price, stop at the ATX Gyro food truck in West Campus. This spot features Mediterranean favorites including gyro wraps, hummus, pita, and salads. Be sure to come hungry, especially since Cold Cookie Company and JPs Pancake Company are in the same food truck park for great dessert options!
Ceviche7 offers Austinites authentic Peruvian cuisine, including fresh ceviche and stir-fries. With influences from all over the world, the flavors of their dishes are incredibly unique and a must-try for anyone in the area! Be sure to get the ceviche, made with raw fish, lemon, salt, and spicy peppers from Peru.
These shakes are out of this world! Milky Way Shakes features vegan milkshakes with creative flavors and scratch-made ingredients. The ice cream has a coconut and almond milk base, giving Austinites a lactose-intolerance friendly option that is still incredibly delicious. This one is a little further from campus, but next time you take a short venture across I-35 to East Austin, stop by this food truck after eating at Juan in a Million!
JPs Pancake Company has quickly become one of Austin’s favorite food trucks around UT. The bright blue food truck stands out, but not as much as the pancakes do! Every dish is affordable and features a stack of 4-inch pancakes in flavors like white chocolate, dark chocolate, and milk chocolate as well as toppings like fruit, spreads, syrups, and sprinkles.
There’s nothing quite like an authentic Mexican street food truck, and this one is vegan! Lick It Up came to Austin from El Palso and features a 100% plant-based menu of traditional Mexican dishes like carne asada fries, flautas, tacos, tortas, and burgers with Beyond Meat patties. Be sure to try the milanesa torta!
