Some times we need an afternoon of shopping and pampering. But in the heart of Charlotte, the options can seem overwhelming with new businesses popping up every day and the size of the city in general.
Whether you’ve lived here your whole life or you are a newcomer to the Queen City, a one-stop-shop makes all the difference in our busy lives–especially during rush hour.
So, your @StuffToDoInCharlotte City Managers set out on this daunting task, and we found the perfect spot for all your needs.
The Park Road Shopping Center is located at the corner of Park Road (Duh!) and East Woodlawn Road. A cool fun fact, the Park Road Shopping Center was the first open-air shopping center in Charlotte built all the way back in 1956.
We did an afternoon of exploring and found that many of these businesses have events happening all the time!
Follow along as we feature our favorite businesses and all that Park Road Shopping Center has to offer Charlotte! Check out the Park Road Shopping Center website here.
For The Quick Snack
Ok, we love food. Guilty as charged. What’s even better, sugar and carbs! If all you need is a small bite and a few relaxing minutes, here are our favorite spots to satisfy all your sweet cravings.
If you haven’t had Jeni’s have you even had ice cream before? This is our favorite ice cream spot in all of Charlotte. Rain or shine, summer or winter, this place will deliver! Be on the lookout for new, amazing flavors all the time as well as their signature originals. Did we mention that it’s totally instagramable?
With a name like Your Mom’s Donut’s, how could we not try this place! Fair warning, these are not your old run-of-the-mill pastry. All the donuts are made from scratch every morning, priding themselves on locally sourced ingredients and being a “guilt-free” treat! They have about 12-15 flavors daily, as well as housemate cinnamon rolls. Check them out on Tuesdays for a Donut and a large coffee for $5! Yes, our mouth is watering, too.
Alright, we definitely don’t speak French, but there’s nowhere else in the Queen City that gives us more Parisian vibes than Amelie’s does! Amelie’s is more than just a French-style coffee cafe, it’s an experience. One of our favorite things we discovered is that this French bakery hosts all kinds of events, including baking and decorating classes. Be sure to check back when their next upcoming classes are, they sell out due to popularity!

We're all Italian at Heart, Right?
Osteria LuCa is here and we are SO EXCITED. “Osteria” in Italian means tavern, but it felt like we were in anything but! A wall full of wine, beautiful artwork, and did we mention some of the best Italian food in the Queen City? LuCa just opened, and when we talked with the restaurant owners, they were beyond excited to share this part of their lives with Charlotte! Watch for specials and if you can call ahead, they take 50% reservations and the rest walk-ins! We can’t wait to get back to see what this Ristorante has in store.
A Book a Day...
Need some reading inspiration? Take a peek inside Park Road Books and you’ll feel like a bookworm in no time! Since 1977, PRB is the only full-service independent bookstore in Charlotte, and even has its own “shop dog,” Yola! On Saturdays, Park Road Books has local children authors in-store that makes for a great family-friendly afternoon. They host multiple book clubs for every genre and have special guest authors almost every week. We definitely fell in love with this book store and we know you will, too!
