An Epic Bonfire and other fun things to do in Nashville this weekend!

A Story By

This weekend features the coolest in creativity and art. Find yourself backstage with a variety of Nashville’s best musicians … or check out the historic and majestic works of the late, great Picasso. Either way, this weekend’s events are sure to feed your artistic soul.

Here are the top things to do in Nashville this weekend!

Due to COVID-19, we understand things are still not quite back to “normal.” But not to worry, these activities are fun and can be done at a social distance. Check for any updates on events and venues before heading out.

Events This Weekend

This Friday, get ready for an epic winter treat outdoors. Enjoy a new year Epic Bonfire at Bloombury Farm.

All that brush that’s been clearing, all those trees that fell during storms, all that hibernation winter has brought upon us? That’s all being cleared out and taken to the open field of Bloomsbury!

Last year they kicked it off with a flaming bow and arrow shot. And, this year? Ooh, you’ll have to go and find out.

Local craft beer will be provided on-site, as well as hot cider and water. Due to Covid, Bloomsbury will be pre-packaging a limited number of s’mores kits.

Bloombury is a family owned and operated organic farm. So, this event is perfect for all-ages. Make sure to also bring your own chair or blanket, and feel free to BYOB.

Social distancing will be observed. Limited tickets are available, starting at $5. Enjoy!

Calling all Cars & Motorcycle Enthusiasts! Every Saturday, all-year long, join fellow enthusiasts for Cars and Coffee at the Carmike Theater in Cool Springs for a morning of hobby, exotic, specialty, and any other motorized piece of transportation you want others to see!

Meetings are Saturday with the first Saturday of each month including the addition of Exotic cars. The more uncommon, the better!

Last year’s gatherings had over 120 cars in attendance, with a coupe of meetings reaching up 150 cars! Enjoy some local breakfast, a hot cup of joe, and some of the best car selections Cool Springs Nashville has to offer.

Best of all? It’s all-ages and free!

If you feel the “need for speed” or to “throttle up”, please wait until you are at least a mile away from the parking lot before trying anything. Cars and Coffee does not want that activity to be associated with its event.

So, please drive slowly and responsibility, and please, no burnouts!

This weekend, witness some of history’s greatest art from one of it’s greatest artists: Picasso.

“Figures,” the exhibition, makes its sole U.S. appearance in Nashville at the Frist’s Ingram Gallery.

Figures is an exhibition from the incomparable collection of the Musée national Picasso-Paris, and offers an in-depth look at Pablo Picasso’s career-long fascination with the human figure as a means of expressing a range of subjects and emotions.

This exhibit features approximately 75 paintings, works on paper, and sculptures. Visitors will reflect on Picasso’s experiments with a variety of styles, including surrealism, neoclassicism, and expressionism, culminating to all of his late works.

Highlights of the exhibition include masterpieces from Picasso’s various styles and periods, as well as more intimate works that provide fresh insights into his innovative practice.

“Viewers will see how, as Picasso continuously deconstructed and then remade the body, he was also recasting the history of figuration as a combination of his own psychological view of humanity and observations about the disruptive nature of life in the 20th century,” says Frist Art Museum chief curator Mark Scala.

Advanced timed entry tickets for this exhibition are available.

Enjoy Cheekwood Estate and Gardens in a beautiful and magnificent way this winter.

Now, in its third year, Orchids in the Mansion celebrates the beauty of nature at a time when Cheekwood’s gardens are otherwise dormant.

Inspired by Dale Chihuly’s Persian Chandelier that graced Cheekwood’s Loggia ceiling, this floral display will not mimic the specific nature of the piece, but rather continues the artistic bravado of one of the most dramatically beautiful rooms in Nashville.

The exhibition builds on the historic backdrop to create the same juxtaposition employed by Chihuly. Cheekwood’s exuberant and modern garden sculptures are presented in contrast to the classical venue.

Three nine-foot chandeliers will hang along the room’s length,  consisting of a series of wire globes. Each will be covered in orchids, ferns and other decorative foliage, hanging not too far off the Loggia floor. Directly beneath the hanging trio is a twenty-eight-foot-long mirrored panel, reflecting the light and image of the orchids above. The color palette will be primarily pink and yellow with accents of light green.

So gorgeous! Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind, beautiful family-friendly event. This is one of the most beautiful things to do in Nashville.

Tickets are available now.
