Back to School in Houston! Events, Supply Drives & More!

School starts in just a few short weeks, Houston! It’s hard to believe summer break is almost over and it’s time to hit the books once more. The Stuff to Do in Houston team wants to share some of our favorite resources and events to prepare you and your kiddos for a great school year!

We know it’s been a while since school has been normal, and we are excited for those new little kinder kids all the way to graduating seniors to rock this school year!  Let’s take a look at all the must-knows for back to school in Houston.

Have a little fun before you or the kids head back to classes!  There are some great events happening in Houston that range from summer fun to school supply giveaways. Grab the kiddos hit the town! To check out all of the great back-to-school events click here!  

Here are a few of our favorites!

It’s not back to school without new school supplies!  There’s nothing better than a brand new pack of crayons or markers to start the year off right.  Each school and teacher will have different lists of required supplies, and you can find many Houston School Supply lists here! Just click on your school, and look for your child’s teacher.  If your list isn’t available just yet, you can sign up for notifications when it’s ready.  Don’t forget that Tax-Free Weekend is August 6–8! Here is a list of qualifying school supplies!

If you’re searching for School Supply Drives in Houston to Donate or receive supplies there are many places around Houston. There are also volunteer opportunities if you’d like to help out the community with these drives.

Be sure to show up for the first day of school with a cute new fit!  Tax-Free Weekend is August 6–8, so this is the perfect time to grab some new clothes for the school year at a discounted price.  Here is a list of clothing and services that fall under Tax-Free Weekend.  Not only can you get new shoes and clothes tax-free but things like some sports gear, and masks, too.

If possible shop local! We have so many great local shops in Houston that would love to have you shop with them!  Here are a few of our favorites in The Heights and The Woodlands!  If your child’s school requires uniforms, you can find those here
