A Story By

If you’re looking for bakeries in Downtown St. Pete, then look no further.  Whether you are looking for lunch spot, treats for the house, or a box full of amazing desserts, St. Pete is a bakery haven.  We’ve done our research on the best bakeries in Downtown St. Pete that you have to visit as soon as possible.

Check out our master guide on bakeries in Downtown St. Pete below!

Southern Bay Bakery

Located nearby the popular Sunken Gardens in St. Pete is the cute Southern Bay Bakery.  The founder and creator of this “from-scratch” bakery is Chef Haylee Shaddock, who creates some amazing sweets – including cupcakes, cookies, and ice cream!  Their baked goods include the classics – like cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies and more.  But they also venture into creative savory and sweet items too!  Check out their amazing Nutella Peanut Butter cookies!  Or their huge Cowboy Cookies – chock full with walnuts, cornflakes, chocolate chips, and coconut!

If you are looking for a vegan or gluten-free option, then this is a great place for you!  The gluten-free desserts and baked goods selection is far and wide, unlike other places that just offer a couple GF items.

Swah-rey

Swah-rey is a local St. Pete classic, known for their mini cupcakes.   Both appealing in looks and taste, their cupcakes have been featured on ABC, Creative Loafing, Wedding Wire and more!  We love their stylish Tiffany’s inspired dessert bar and that you can hang out or grab and go!

We recommend ordering their “Hookups” deal – which comes with a mini cupcake or a beverage of your choice.  You can choose from coffee and tea or a glass of prosecco!  Some of our favorite cupcake flavors include Blueberry Cobbler, Coconut Lime, and Pancakes ‘n Bacon.

Valhalla Bakery

Valhalla Bakery is the place for you if you’re looking for some fun, colorful, and creative treats.  The flavor combinations and beautiful decorations are so great – you won’t even notice that their items are Vegan!

Whether you are vegan or not, Valhalla will have a new favorite treat for you.  We recommend their fruity hand pies, the Oreo sticky bun, and their amazing carrot cake!  They also have a spin on the Tampa classic – the quesito.  Their vegan quesito may convert you from your favorite Cuban bakery!

Valhalla also offers some amazing savory options – so we love coming here for a quick lunch.  They have a yummy sun-dried tomato tart with a buttery pastry base.  There are also breakfast sandwiches, so if you’re missing a place to pick up a vegan breakfast then definitely stop by Valhalla!

Cassis Bakery

Cassis Bakery is a local brasserie and bakery that brings Parisian cuisine to the St. Pete area.  Cassis is the spot for you if you are looking to sit and relax in a bakery atmosphere.  Not only is their baked goods selection amazing, but also their selection of bakery inspired quick lunch bites!  We recommend ordering one of their amazing cappuccinos – served with cinnamon and all – and one of their almond croissants or one of their elegantly plated mousse desserts.  We recommend the chocolate one of course!

Looking for a place to take your pup?  Check out their dog menu!  Order one of their small plates – including a Pup Monsieur ham and cheese sandwich or treats like a puppy peanut butter cookie.

Craft Kafe

Craft Kafe is a local St. Pete bakery but it is dedicated to creating delicious treats without gluten.  Gluten-free treats sometimes get a bad reputation but Craft Kafe will take all of your worries away!  Their fresh and high-quality ingredients create some amazing eats. Pick up one of their bakery items with their amazing coffee as well, you will not regret it.

We recommend their Oatmeal Cream Pie – homemade butter cream sandwiched between two of the best oatmeal raisin cookies you’ve ever had.  While their sweets are great, we think their savory items shine the best.  Check out their savory hand pies, pizza slices, or their artisan quiches – including one with potatoes, caramelized onions, and provolone cheese.  You might just forget that this is a gluten-free shop by all of their options!
