What began as a risky choice of the owners of Malone leaving their corporate jobs, quickly turned into a successful and very popular coffee shop in downtown Austin! At Malone, they have set out to make it their mission to introduce people to coffee so good that it can only be drank black. They offer the delicious classic signature latte, espresso, drip brew, nitro cold brew, and butter coffee along with breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and muffins. If I had to recommend two drinks, they would be their Nitro Cold Brew which is their top selling item and the Southside Caramel Latte infused with cinnamon.
At Intelligentsia, they like to keep things simple and focus on quality. They like to roast their coffee in-store with a Probat L12 and strive to seek perfection with each cup they brew. The goal of the founders, Doug and Emily, is to revolutionize the coffee industry. They want to change the standard of how a proper coffee cup should be made.
Located inside St. David’s Episcopal Church, Holy Grounds strives to be a welcoming place in which they reflect their love for their neighborhood in each cup of coffee brewed. Whether you’re an espresso lover or a vanilla iced coffee fan, Holy Grounds has something for everyone! They even offer a special seasonal menu which is a must to check out this holiday season. Not only is their coffee delicious, but they also offer a full espresso bar that serves fairtrade organic coffee from Texas coffee traders making it a must try for the organic lovers!
Briggo Coffee is transforming the way people are ordering their coffee! Chances are you’ve seen their barista bots in the airport, but they also have a coffee shop located in the Austin Convention Center.

They have a robotic, fully-automated barista available to help address any questions about a coffee order. They also offer customizable, gourmet espresso drinks on demand. Halcyon is a small coffee shop chain in Texas with locations in Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas. Halcyon has made a name for itself as a key coffee shop to check out in downtown Austin. They have set the bar for quality coffee around the state of Texas and can make pretty much anything and everything really well. Alongside their coffee, they also serve cocktails, wine, appetizers and tableside s’mores. They even have hot chocolate flights to get you in the holiday spirit!
They are a coffee house by day and a bar and lounge by night where you can always relax and find your personal “halcyon” which means peace and calm. Halycon also has a coffee shop in North Austin for you to check out!
Since 2006, Jo’s Coffee Downtown has been known for serving a full breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch and the famous Jo’s coffee Austinies crave! They roast some of the best coffee in town and I am especially a fan of their classic drip coffee known as Jo’s House Blend, a full-bodied roast from Brazil with hints of chocolate. They also have signature drinks such as the Iced Turbo, a sweet drink made with coffee, espresso, chocolate, hazelnut and cream. They also have a location on South Congress, so you can check out Jo’s and more coffee shops in South Austin here.
