Strachan's Ice Cream & Desserts
Strachan’s has been a part of the Tampa Bay community since 1999 and has expanded to three different locations in the area – including Dunedin and Palm Harbor. Their homemade ice cream treats have been perfected over time, making this one of the best ice cream shops in Tampa Bay. This friendly neighborhood shop is soon to be your next after-school or work stop.
Strachan’s offers dozens of homemade flavors – from classic to creative. We love their refreshing Key Lime Pie flavor, perfect for a hot day. They also have chocolate dipped frozen bananas, which are a great treat for kids!

Dairy Joy is a super cute ice cream treat spot in South Tampa. We love the retro feel of this spot because it’s like an old school ice cream shop. While you’re ordering, you can smell the sweet scent of waffle cones! Opened in 1958, Dairy Joy has been serving the South Tampa community for a very long time.
We recommend one of their amazing milkshakes. They have a ton of flavors, but we love their Cake Batter milkshake!
With over two dozen homemade flavors, Candy Kitchen is your next favorite stop for sweet treats. This tiny, candy cane colored sweets shop is a family owned business, open since 1950. Perfect after a beach trip, their ice cream is super refreshing for the end of the day. We love their Black Raspberry flavor and their non-dairy lemon Italian Ice! This shop is also full of colorful candy and vintage toys available for sale.
Chill Bros is a super popular ice cream shop in the heart of Ybor City, with a new location in South Tampa bow. What makes this spot so popular? Chill Bros is the only place to get their unique flavors. Where else can you find Chronic Popcorn or Spanish Olive oil? Our favorite flavor is the Guava Pastelito – which is a nod to their Ybor City roots.
Looking for a place with great non-dairy flavors? Check out their vegan ice cream with house-made cashew milk! They have great choices like Oreo and Candy Cane Forest.
Astro Ice Cream at Armature Works
You may have seen Astro Ice Cream’s extravagant ice cream sundaes on Instagram! A long-time resident of Armature Works, Tampa Bay locals line up for Astro’s amazing creations. Their ice cream sundaes come with a cookie and a flavor shot syringe full of chocolate sauce, caramel, or any other flavor to accent the theme. We love their Peanut Butter Brownie Indulgence creation with fresh banana, peanut butter cups, and a honey flavor shot.
If you’re just looking for a scoop, Astro has some amazing flavors. Check out their Ybor Rum Toasted Coconut Meringue Pie or Creme Brulee Cafe Con Leche!
Plant Love Ice Cream
Plant Love Ice Cream is a St. Pete spot focusing on 100% dairy free ice cream. Whether you’re lactose intolerant or vegan, Plant Love is the best spot for you. They also make a priority to help the environment by their dedication to being a zero-waste business.
We recommend ordering their flight deal – 5 scoops – so you can try more than one flavor. Check out their Matcha and Choco P.B. Banana flavors!
Dough Nation is one of our favorite spots, being one of the few places to get edible cookie dough in the Tampa Bay area. Here you can get their cookie dough with ice cream as a sundae or as a yummy milkshake! We recommend getting their sugar cookie dough as a sundae add-in.
At Dough Nation, you’ll also feel great about helping the community! Through their strong partnership with Metropolitan Ministries, the proceeds go towards assisting this local non-profit.
Jeni's Ice Cream
Jeni’s Ice Cream is a popular grocery store brand, known for bringing artisan ice cream in-store. But Jeni’s is opening one of their super aesthetic scoop shops to Sparkman Wharf and the Pearl in Downtown Tampa! We recommend both the Frose and Brambleberry Crisp – with toasted oat streusel, blackberries, and black currants ribboned throughout the ice cream.
35 Below is a South Tampa rolled ice cream shop, serving the popular internet treat to the Tampa community. Rolled ice cream is super yummy, light and refreshing – sure to keep you cool on a hot summer day. They have different flavors and toppings available, perfect for a great Instagram story.
With locations in South Tampa and St. Pete Beach, D’Lites brings their healthy treats to both sides of the bay. Their healthy ice cream is great if you are on a diet or just want a lighter dessert. D’Lites ice cream is low fat, low carb, with no artificial sweeteners – but tastes like the real thing.
A small ice cream contains only 100 calories, so you’re welcome to try more than one of their 100 rotating flavors. They also have ice cream cakes, ice cream to-go, ice cream sandwiches, shakes, and more.
Revolution Ice Cream
Revolution Ice Cream pioneered unique ice cream flavors in the Tampa Bay area. Their indie decor shop is one of our favorite hang out spots. Their flavors range from spicy hot chocolate to cinnamon rolls. They also have a coconut non-dairy option, if you’re looking for a lighter scoop.

Mayday at the Joinery
Located at the Joinery, a Lakeland modern food hall, Mayday offers locally handcrafted artisan ice cream. We love their unique flavors – like Coffee and Donuts, Lavender Melange, and Raja Honey. Here you can get house-made waffle cones, sprinkles, and galettes – a type of fruit tarte with buttery pastry. They also have dairy free options, if you are looking for a vegan treat!
We love Mayday also for their decor. The Joinery is a popular spot for aspiring influencers for their gorgeous modern decor and industrial accents. This is a great place to take photos with your aesthetic Mayday ice cream. We recommend having #icequeen as a caption.
