Bet ya didn’t know Austin is home to over 50 breweries, and we most certainly know why! With the amount of sun we get in our great state, an ice-cold beer is always welcomed and enjoyed!
If you happen to be browsing down SOCO, you’ve got to make your way to one of the nearby breweries. They aren’t a walk down (unless you are just that fit), but a couple of minutes of a drive. Each one has its own personality, and the beers are some of the best we’ve ever had. There’s plenty to check out, but here are five of our favorite breweries near South Congress!
Vacancy Brewing is one of the newer breweries in town, and we were so happy to give them a warm welcome at their opening. The beer is good y’all! We tried many of their flavors by doing a flight.
They have three core offerings to begin with–Lucille, Margo, and June. Outside of that, they will also have rotating seasonal beers on tap. Check them out and the food truck Trill that sits in front of the building.

St. Elmo is the neighborhood bar you wished you lived nearby to. They have tons of IPA (and some others) on tap and the cutest patio with string lights.
It’s what the locals love, and we can see why. If you’re not into beer, you can grab a glass of frozé as well. It’s only available on certain days, so go accordingly!

This brewery and cafe has been an Austin favorite for some time. They have tons of craft beer and ciders on tap, some with the quirkiest names. There’s “Peak Season” and “Call Me Sir.” They even have some delicious panini sandwiches made in-house!

🗓 THUR–SAT | 11AM–10PM
📍3804 Woodbury Dr Suite A, Austin, TX 78704
The A.B.G.B. is one of our favorite spots to go hang with a group of friends. Whether it’s inside or outside, all of their space is huge to bring a group or your dog to. It’s also a little further away from SOCO, but not too far.
Not only did they win the American Beer Festival’s Brewpub of the Year, but their pizza is also one of our favorite spots to grab a slice. They have beer, music, and wine. What more could you want?

🗓 SAT | 12PM–12AM
🗓 SUN | 12PM–10PM
📍 1305 W Oltorf St, Austin, TX 78704
Ok, so this Pinthouse location the furthest of this bunch, but it’s still in the vicinity to be counted as a must-try place! The pizza location serves both Pinthouse pizza and their beer, while their brewing location serves their beer and snacks.
We can’t tell you if we like the pizza or beer more, but we end up ordering both every time, so why does it even matter? Everything is bigger at Pinthouse, so be sure to share with friends!
