Where to Get The Most Delicious Brunch on South Lamar

A Story By

Austin is home to a handful of historic neighborhoods and chic places, as well as some great restaurants that are perfect for brunch. After all, brunch is everyone’s guilty pleasure. It allows us to combine the most delicious foods into a meal of our own, all without sacrificing staying in bed longer.

South Lamar has a certain character and zeal that you can’t find anywhere else, and the restaurants are no different. We’ve rounded up where to find the best brunch on South Lamar for you to try this weekend!

Odd Duck is a very unique and quant restaurant in Austin that is perfect for all brunch lovers! The restaurant has a nice bar area with big windows overlooking the outdoor seating area.

The menu is also very vast. A personal fan favorite is the smoked ham with sunny eggs, scallion cheddar biscuit, apple gastrique, and honey butter.  Everything is made farm-to-table with fresh ingredients, making it a staple in the Austin brunch scene.

Snooze is a popular chain with its roots here in Austin, Texas. They undeniably serve some of the best breakfast and brunch in Austin. Period.

Be prepared to experience a dining culture of “custom creations” which means that they encourage everyone to get sweet and savory simple food for breakfast. For example, you can order half of one of their eggs benedicts and half of a pancake that sparks your taste buds to satisfy both your sweet and salty cravings.

Kerbey Lane has been in business since 1980, serving made-from-scratch comfort food that started originally out of a small 1930s bungalow in Central Austin. What I love about this restaurant is that to this day, it remains 100% family-owned and they continue to stay true to the original values of serving delicious meals that are thoughtfully-sourced, scratch-made, and affordable.

Some of the most delicious items on the menu at this brunch spot on South Lamar are the crispy chicken benedict, Kerbey scramble, and the many varieties of breakfast tacos. Not only is the food amazing, but the hospitality is like no other! Everyone who comes through the doors is treated like family with love. Another great perk is the coffee. Kerbey Lane works directly with small farmer cooperatives all around the world to get delicious organic and fair trade coffee.

🗓 EVERY DAY | 7AM-10PM

Gourdoughs is known for its lineup of doughnuts and doughnut-based sandwiches including the Mother Clucker (fried chicken and honey butter over a doughnut) and the Drunken Hunk (bacon-wrapped meatloaf, a fried egg, and bourbon- or cider-based barbecue sauce over a doughnut).

Savory doughnuts are used in place of burger buns or sandwich bread. Whether you are in the mood for something sweet or savory, there is something for everyone’s taste buds. Gordoughs is a must for a brunch experience that will have you feeling full and cravings satisfied.

Patika Coffee, originally opened in 2010 as a small coffee kart in downtown Austin, has served many-a-cup to Austinites. What sets Patika apart is the selection process that they undertake to bring on a roaster’s beans. They make it their goal to carry the highest quality product, which includes manually brewed coffees from roasters they love.

Along with their espressos, french pressed, and cold-brewed iced coffee, they also offer food such as avocado toast, quinoa bowl, salmon stuffed avocado, and more! Patika is also a great place to work remotely and grab brunch on South Lamar.

🗓 EVERY DAY | 8AM-2PM

📍2159 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

Our team had to include Maria’s Taco Xpress on this list of the best spots for brunch on South Lamar! They are known for margaritas, delicious brunch, ample patio space, and live music-focused Hippie Church events.

People also love the simplicity of the food here! The soft chew on the egg, the freshness of the pico tossed atop, and the sausage and spices that go along with the breakfast tacos all make this place irresistible. All of the flavors combined make this food delicious and will have you coming back for more.

🗓 EVERY DAY | 8AM-3PM

📍2529 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

El Naranjo has gained popularity in Austin for their traditional Mexican food and brunch items. Customers absolutely fall in love with this place after their first visit, and they come back over and over again! The menu is frequently changed, so there is always something new to try.

I reccommend trying El Naranjo’s tacos dorados, a trio of rolled fried tacos filled with mash potatoes and your choice of either goat cheese or shredded chicken. The tacos are topped and smothered in an emerald-colored salsa of avocado and cream which makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
