They also have an antique shop and an art gallery. You can get your shopping fix and maybe find a new favorite local artist while you are at it. When you’re done shopping, you can head into their bar and experience an open mic night filled with talented voices from all over Houston.

Converse with some new people, listen to some local music, and catch a poetry reading! Who doesn’t love pizza and art? We certainly do! Stop by this unique studio for some exquisite food, music, poetry, and architecture! The Gypsy Poet has everything you need for a night well spent right in the heart of the city.  Their artisan-style pizzas are to die for and you will definitely leave with a full belly and a happy heart. This is definitely one of the most chill poetry spots in Houston. ❤️

We know just the spot to make your day a little brighter and bring in some excitement. The Local Seat is located in the third ward area, just outside the University of Houston! If you stop by on Monday nights, you’ll be in for a treat with their open mic. You can enjoy poetry, singing, dancing, comedy, and more!

If you’re serious about your poetry, Inprint is the place for you. They are a nonprofit organization that supports fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction lovers. With a selection of activities to join including readings, book clubs, and writing workshops, you can grow as a writer and as a reader at this special place.

At AvantGarden, they offer a chill space to decompress and enjoy incredible art in the middle of the week. This bar is beautiful, and with over 1,000 5 star reviews on Google you’ll struggle to find a reason NOT to go! They also host weddings, and live music, so they’ve got all your bases covered. Brasil is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Houston. But not only is it a place where you can grab some delicious food, it’s also one of the great poetry spots in Houston!  There is a beautiful patio in the back where they have reading events.  Brasil has been part of the Houston area since 1992, and you can still catch the things that made them their name: music, and artwork.  They aim to promote interaction between Houstonians, so definitely get out to Brasil for some awesome poetry in Houston!
