From the looks of the weather app, this week is going to be a wet and chilly one–but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still a ton of awesome things to do in Austin.
Before diving into all the great events happening this weekend I want to let y’all in on something the Stuff to Do in Austin team is planning! We will be taking a road trip and we’re taking y’all with us. Want to know where we’re going? Be sure to read (or at least scroll) to the bottom to see where we’re heading for the Holidays!
Now let’s check out all the great things happening around Austin and the greater Austin area this weekend.
One of my favorite events of the year is back at Waller Creek for 11 nights. The 6th annual Creek Show will be lighting up a portion of downtown Austin for you to come and check out.
Last year more than 50,000 people attended throughout the duration of the show and this year more are expected to come and check out the six new installations. The installations are created by local artists, architects, and designers. To learn more about the installations and who created them check out the installation page.
While most people come for the light installations they hang around for the live musical performances that take place every single night, food trucks on-site, and awesome activities for all ages. Activities include a family zone with interactive activities from The Thinkery, Mad Science, Austin FC, Protection Department, Austin Watershed, and more.
Students from the University of Texas have constructed what they call the Creek Monster Habitat where visitors will be transported to the Creek Monsters nest through an audio-visual experience. Be sure to stop by the Creek Show backYARD at the Sheraton Austin Hotel to play illuminated lawn games plus drink hot chocolate and coffee.
Check out the line up for the live music concert series:
- NOV 7 | Melat
- NOV 8 | Levitation presents: Alex Maas from The Black Angels

The best part about this event, besides how insanely cool it really is, is that it’s free! Every single night of the show. How awesome?
If you just can’t wait to check it out and would like to take a sneak peek before it opens to the public, the Creek Show Preview Party is your best option. The night will feature the artist’s work as well as live music, signature bites, and delicious cocktails.
It’s officially the wurst time of year, y’all! Dust off those lederhosen and get your beer goggles ready because the final weekend of Wurstfest is still here.
If you think you are prepared to make the most out of your trip down to New Braunfels for the greatest beer and sausage festival ever, think again. Thanks to the Stuff to Do in San Antonio team you’ve got easy access to everything you need to know before attending the festival with their Wurstfest Guide.
Besides this being one of the most looked forward to festivals of the fall season, Wurstfest has so much more to offer than pitchers of beer and tasty food. This family-friendly event has activities for all ages.
The carnival has grown over the years and now has more rides and games than ever before! Purchase ride tickets and use them for any ride/games in the carnival area. You can even purchase an unlimited ride wristband for the ultimate experience!
Enjoy live music and dancing from all 5 stages every single night of Wurstfest. From the Chicken Dance to German chants, there’s always something going on.
We have waited, we have been patient, and now it’s finally here. The rescheduled Fried Chicken and Hot Wings Festival is finally here.
The festival will feature chicken with a variety of flavors for you to try. While you enjoy all the delicious wings there will be live music and a variety of activities to take part in.
VIP tickets are sold out already but General Admission tickets are still available. GA tickets include entrance into the festival as well as awesome entertainment throughout the day.

Things are about to get super cheesy here in Austin and I’m not referring to the number of puns you are about to endure reading about the Austin Mac and Cheese Festival. Yes, you read that right. There’s a Mac and Cheese Festival coming to Austin and you want to be there.
The festival will feature 25 of Austins tastiest Mac and Cheese creators including popular restaurants and food truck vendors. You will have the chance to taste them for yourself and vote for the best in Austin.
Vendors include COVER 3, the original Black’s BBQ, the League Kitchen, Abuelo’s, TLC, the Happy Grilled Cheese, Chi’lantro BBQ, and many more.
In addition to all the cheesy goodness, there will be drinks to help wash down the noodles. They will have a fully stocked bar with beer, cider, wine, cocktails, and options for non-drinkers and those who are under 21.
While VIP tickets are sold out already they still have General Admission available. GA tickets include unlimited tastings and four drink tickets.
