Hey Houston. We get it. Life gets tough and sometimes you just need to scream and shout and let it all out. Finding a good place to cry in Houston can be frustrating. Sometimes you need to get out of the house to figure it all out, and we get that!
Here are a few judgment-free places to get the pain and worries off your chest. Whether you need to shed a tear or have a full-on tantrum, there’s a spot for you below.
Gerald D. Hines Waterwall
Kicking off the list of places to cry in Houston, we have Gerald D. Hines Waterwall. Get lost in the sound of water gliding down the wall and crashing against the concrete stairs below it.
This is one of my personal favorite places to cry in Houston. Go to Galveston early and watch the sunrise. Not an early riser? Go catch the sunset.
Listen to the waves, reflect, and let out whatever’s bothering you. Imagine how small your problems would seem compared to the great big ocean.
In Houston Traffic
Does this one really need explaining? I think every local has found this to be one of the top-tier places to cry in Houston.
Hit the loop, i45, the 610, or anywhere on i10 in general. After a few minutes sitting in traffic, you won’t even remember what you were mad at. You’ll be too focused on getting out of the thick of traffic.
Think about it, you get a good release and a clean car out of this option! The comfort of your car is a great place to cry in Houston.
After you drive the loop and still need a bit of alone time, head over to your neighborhood car wash. Imagine that all the soap and water falling from the car are your sorrows being cleansed.
In The Shower
The shower is for more than singing, it’s also for screaming (just don’t scare the neighbors!)
Any Park... Especially in The Rain
Houston is full of large parks. If you don’t have a favorite yet, you’re missing out big time. Take a walk, find a bench, and enjoy the endless city views. Popular parks include Eleanor Tinsley, Discovery Green, Memorial or Buffalo Bayou.
Get out in your neighborhood and see what smaller parks are closer to you. If you’re looking to add a dramatic effect to your pity party, I highly suggest going in the rain.
There’s nothing like Texas pride. You can search high and low for it, but no one takes pride in anything like Texas – especially our sports!
If our guys win or lose, you plus thousands of other Texan fans will be crying in sync. No worries when it comes to letting a few tears roll at NRG, you’d blend right in. This is probably the best place to cry in Houston, surrounded by fellow Houstonians.
