Date Ideas in Jacksonville

A Story By

This is for all you love birds who are tired of the same old restaurant and/or movie date. Not that anything is wrong with enjoying a large popcorn, soda, and candy while sitting next to your crush while watching a Rom-Com…but sometimes it’s fun to shake things up! So we are here to tell you about some of the best date-spots in Jacksonville!

And right on time to plan a memorable night for your valentine.

Cheap & Fun!

There are so many places in Jax to explore with a loved one. You can make anything an adventure and we named a few of our favorites below.

Riverside Arts Market is the perfect destination for the artsy couple who is in to supporting local and likes trying new things. This market is located under the Fuller Warren Bridge on Riverside Avenue and goes on every Saturday. You can sample some food and enjoy the wonderful art with a waterfront view with your date!

Hanna Park is inexpensive and great for all the outdoorsy couples! It’s only $5 per car if you are visiting for the day and $20 a night if you stay for camping. Camping under the stars with some s’mores after a day of hiking or laying on the beach sounds romantic enough for us.

Jacksonville Fishing Pier is another great place for beautiful views to take your loved one. It’s only $1 to enter the pier and there are many ways to make it a memorable date. You could bring some food to have a water-front date, you could fish, or just have a romantic walk.

The Northbank Riverwalk is another place for a beautiful walk with views of the St. John’s River and also a  known place for some big Jax events. After your walk, you can take a water taxi to the Southbank Riverwalk with a view of the Friendship Fountain and the downtown skyline!

Jacksonville Icemen games are a lot of fun and tickets can be as low as $8. Another great date is a Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game. What’s more fun than a classic game of baseball, eating hot dogs and drinking lemonade?

Sun-Ray Cinema in Five Points and San Marco Theatre are local movie theaters and are both very artsy and offer food, beer, and wine! If you are still looking for some more fun after the movie, head to The Phoenix Bar & Bowling for a full-service bar, bowling, arcade games, pizza kitchen, and even karaoke!

Romantic & Fancy

Everyone knows the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach and we have a list of some of our favorite “fine and dine” restaurants that are perfect for date night:

We also have a great romantic idea for any coffee lovers out there! You can schedule a private class for barista training with Bold Bean. It ranges from $300-$500 but if you really want to do something unique and special, why not?!

Or maybe something more from a fairytale is your date’s style. Book a carriage ride in St. Augustine for a beautiful tour around the historic city and snuggle your date while you enjoy a memorable ride.

And what is more romantic than a horseback ride on the beach?! All we gotta say is, if our date doesn’t take us riding on the beach, we don’t want it.

Artsy Activities

There are a couple of studios where you can bring your own drinks and snacks and get your craft on! There are many choices for different crafts so make sure to check out what they offer and book a session. We named a few below!

Another great artsy idea for a date is making your own candle at Wick A Candle Bar. You get to smell all their different scents and pick out some of your favorites and mix them together for your perfect blend. Bring your own bottle of wine and a charcuterie board and leave with a scent to remember the day!

Flowers & Treats

If you really want to start the date off right, stop by one of these shops to pick up some fresh flowers and/or goodies that will make anyone smile.

  • St Johns Flower Market is a cute little shop on the corner. You can pick up an arrangement or handpick each flower so that it is even more personal.
  • Little Flower Bunch is another local flower shop that handpicks their flowers every morning and creates arrangements for the day. Make sure to pre-order because they sell fast!
  • Good Dough Doughnuts will never disappoint. We’ve never met a doughnut we don’t like and we are sure you’re date won’t either if they are from this yummy local shop. You can even pre-order some donuts to spell “I love you” if you are wanting something extra special.
  • Peterbrooke Chocolatier has the perfect treats to impress your loved one. There are a couple of locations in Jax, so find one near you and pick up some goodies to “woo” your date!

There are so many great local coffee shops in Jax so another great way to start your date off right is to grab a coffee. Here are just a few local Jax coffee shops:
