Orlando is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the beach, and there’s no better way to cool down this summer than that ocean breeze and a swim in the salty water.

Dogs need to cool down, too, so we’ve scoped out some of the best Dog-Friendly Beaches Near Orlando to Enjoy with your Pup this Summer! So grab your pooch and hit the road to enjoy these awesome pup-friendly beaches your whole family will love!

Head over to the Space Coast to Canova Beach Park and enjoy 9.1 acres of one of Brevard County’s only dog-friendly beaches! About an hour away from Orlando, Canova Beach Park has a small pavilion, grill, picnic tables, benches, restrooms, drinking fountains, and outdoor showers perfect for after a day out in the sand.

Admission to the park is free, but dogs must be on a leash and wear tags showing their current license and vaccinations. Owners must pick up after their pets, and waste bags and proper receptacles are available.

If you’re looking for a great dog beach with awesome views of the lighthouse, Lighthouse Point Park is the place to go! Located right on the Ponce Inlet in Volusia County, this park allows dogs on the inlet-shore beach, and dogs must be leashed at all times.

Dogs are allowed to swim in the water on the Ponce Inlet side only, as they are not allowed on the beaches on the Atlantic side. There is also a great nature trail your pup will love that leads to the forested area in the middle of the park with an observation tower overlooking the river.

Take a short drive up to New Smyrna to visit Smyrna Dunes Park Dog Beach! Located along the southern shoreline of Ponce Inlet, Smyrna Dunes is a 184-acre inlet park that offers five different Florida ecosystems for you and your pup to enjoy!

At Smyrna Dunes, you’ll find a fishing pier, restrooms, picnic tables, and a dog-friendly swimming area along the river’s shore. Parking is $10, and be prepared to walk a little bit to get to the water, but it will definitely be worth it!

If your dog needs a lot of space to run around, take them up to Flagler Beach! About an hour and a half north of Orlando, Flagler Beach has a dog-friendly strip from north of North 10th street to the south of South 10th street and has been named one of the best pet-friendly beaches in the US!

Leashed dogs can play in the sand and hit the waves, or you can even bring your dog out on your kayak or paddleboard. When you’re done at the beach, be sure to check out many of the pet-friendly, beach-front dining locations in Flagler Beach!

Not too far from Orlando, you’ll find Davis Island on Tampa Bay, which has a secluded dog park and dog beach located on the water. Dogs are able to play off-leash in the waves, and right next to the beach is a fenced-in dog park for those pups who might not like to swim!

By the dog park, you’ll also find water and hoses to clean off your dogs, and then you can spend the day in Tampa Bay with your furry friend! While you’re on that side of the state, be sure to check out the rest of our favorite dog-friendly beaches near Orlando!

Fort Desoto also has a dog-friendly section along the beach!

The Paw Playground is where dogs are allowed on the beach, and they are allowed to run free off-leash inside the fenced-in area. Your pup will love running in and out of the waves, and you’ll enjoy relaxing on the sand with your fur-ever friend!

At Pass-a-Grille Beach in St. Pete, dogs are welcome everywhere, and everyone loves to bring their dogs to the Pass a Grille Dog Beach! Bring your dog to Paradise Grill while you watch a sunset, have them help you while you fish off the fishing pier, or even stay with you at many pet-friendly inns.
