As pet owners, it’s very important to source the best dog friendly parks to watch our little furry friends run freely, meet other dogs, play fetch, and more. Not sure where the best dog friendly parks near Sarasota are? Not to worry! We’ve created this guide for all of our dog moms and dads out there. 

If you’re a local or just passing through, here are the 7 best dog friendly parks near Sarasota to take your little floof to now!

Arlington Park

Arlington Park is located less than two miles from Downtown Sarasota and makes for a great daytime park for your pup! You can easily let your dog free from its leash with the wide-open, gated dog park at Arlington Park. They have a separate small and dog area too. 

If your dog is feeling anti-social, you can take them on the walking path instead of going into the dog area. This 1/2 mile trail has great scenery and provides a lovely stroll that’s not too long or short!

17th Street Paw Park

If you have an active pup, 17th Street Paw Park is a paw-some spot to bring them! This dog park is incredibly large and even has agility equipment. You can play fetch to tire out your highly energetic dog, or see what they’re really made of at the obstacle course area! 

17th Street Paw Park in Sarasota is an ideal park if you’re looking for a lot of space to exercise and shaded areas to relax!

Lakeview Paw Park

Lakeview Paw Park is one of the best dog friendly parks in Sarasota because of its large big and small dog areas, crazy amounts of shade, and options for on-leash walking paths too! The small agility area is a fun opportunity to introduce your pup to an obstacle course if they’ve never tried it before! They might surprise you with their skills!

Lakeview Paw Park is a popular dog park before and after work hours so if you’re looking to socialize your dog with others, these times are usually the best!

Woodmere Dog Park

If you’re looking for a few walking trails before hitting up the dog park, head to Woodmere Dog Park. The beautiful trails are great for a scenic stroll amongst nature. Once you’re ready for the dog park, you can enjoy a wide-open space, free poop bags, water, great picnic tables and tennis balls to throw around. If you happen to stumble in on an off time, you’ll be able to enjoy a nice, peaceful play area! Woodmere Dog Park is mostly sand and mulch so keep in mind that your pup might get a little dirty! But what’s play without a little dirt anyways?!

Brohard Paw Park

Brohard Paw Park is the best of both worlds with a dog beach and fenced dog park! Watch your pup live their best life at this beautiful dog beach. It’s a nice change of scenery, easily accessible and you’ll probably meet other friendly dogs here too! Plus, after a day of play, they have a rinse-off area to wash your pup of all the saltwater! We bet your dog will leave very happy and exhausted!

Bayfront Park

Bayfront Park in Sarasota is a beautiful waterfront park to walk your pup, relax in the grass, check out the tiki bar, all while enjoying the amazing views of the bay and city! If you have a chill dog, we recommend coming here to sit in the park for a picnic while dolphin seeking! You’ll also see a ton of unique birds in the park so be on the lookout!

Bird Key Park

Bird Key Park is a popular location for all outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, walking your dog, catching the sunset, and more! You really cannot beat the beautiful waterfront views from the park and the path. This is a lovely spot to meet up with your dog owner friends for a nice walk and then hang out under the pavilion or at a picnic table!
