Experience Downtown Nashville Like a Local

A Story By

Do you love going to Downtown Nashville, but hate feeling like a tourist? First of all, we get it. While we do love the occasional trip to Broadway for live music and people-watching, we typically try to avoid it during peak tourist season. Whether you’re visiting Nashville or are a local who doesn’t know where to start, we’re here to help you experience Downtown Nashville.

Ok, we know what you’re thinking. A hotel in a guide that talks about being a local? Yep!Β

Bobby Hotel is one of our favorite places to go downtown because there is so much to do! Tavern at Bobby is perfect for dinner! No matter what entree you order, be sure to get the Brussel sprouts side for the table. You can thank us later!

After dinner, head up to the Rooftop Lounge for a drink! This spot is perfect no matter what time of year. Enjoy the nice summer weather, or check out the igloo installation in the winter! If you’re looking for something a little more lowkey, Bobby’s Garage is the place for you. Enter on Printer’s Alley and take in some of the coolest vibes in Downtown Nashville.

If you’re not much of a night owl, you’ll love the Cafe at Bobby for breakfast or lunch! Their specialty lattes are to die for, and the Bobby burger will change your life. Dramatic? Probably, but we mean it!

You read that right, another hotel! Dream Hotel has so much to offer to visitors and locals alike! Whether you’re looking for dining or nightlife, they’ve got ya covered.

Natura Nashville is one of our go-to’s for coffee Downtown. We even like to bring our laptops and get some work done. If you’re a fan of latte art, download the app Ripples before you go and get any photo printed on your latte!Β

Stateside Kitchen has become one of our favorite restaurants in Nashville! They have a variety of items on the menu, and everything is great. Our go-to brunch order: Stateside Bloody Mary, and Shrimp + Grits. If you decide to check it out for brunch, you can expect a DJ and a good time.

On the Printers Alley side of the hotel, you can check out Vatos Taco Shop. They’re only open Friday and Saturday from 6 pm-1 am, so we recommend stopping for a bite after checking out one of 3 bars at Dream Hotel:

Parlour Bar
Dirty Little Secret
Snitch

Inside the 21c Museum Hotel, you’ll find one of our favorites, Gray & Dudley! This restaurant has museum galleries featuring contemporary art to make your dining experience unique. There are a lot of great southern-inspired options to choose from on their breakfast, brunch, and dinner menus,Β and you really can’t go wrong with any of them!

If you’re looking for a sophisticated spot for date night, or just a nice dinner, then be sure to check out Black Rabbit. Here you will find a large bar with craft cocktails and plenty of space if you have a big group. Of course, we recommend making reservations, however you can walk in if you’re willing to wait. The menu is great, you can’t go wrong with anything, and there is live entertainment often.Β

We always love a good rooftop bar, so when we go to Noelle Hotel, our first stop is Rarebird. We think everyone would agree when we say there’s nothing better than a great cocktail after a long week and taking in the views of our incredible city.

If it’s not always cocktail o’clock in your mind, have no fear. Grab some coffee at Drug Store Coffee, which serves our favorite Barista Parlor menu items.

Food time! Makeready has become a staple in our weekend brunch rotation. Hot Chicken and Waffles, please!

Have you been searching for a bar with just a little more to it? Then we have the place for you. If you loved arcades as a kid, but feel too old to go to one now, then how about a Beercade? This is the perfect low-maintenance outing to still have the nightlife scene. Here, you are going to find 30+ vintage arcade games, 10+ pinball machines, tons of drink options, and of course some food to snack on.

Can you keep a secret?

Located just steps off of Broadway, this elegant speakeasy entrance is… you guessed it: through a phone booth. The catch, however, is that you have to ring in the code to enter. You’re probably wondering what it is, but it changes constantly. In order to get the code, you’ll have to ask a member or one of the front desks at the hotels in the area.Β

If you’re lucky enough to find a way in, this speakeasy has Neapolitan Pizzas, Craft Cocktails, and a Cigar Program in a 1920’s theme. For more speakeasies in Nashville, click here.

Step into another time when you come to Cafe Intermezzo because this is not your modern-day coffee shop. Cafe Intermezzo embodies the essence of the 300-year-old European Coffeehouse, making it a unique stop downtown.

You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner here while sipping on wine or a choice from The Beverage Book. We love pastries of all types, and when we come here, we are able to try something new every time.

This Original Live Music Venue in Nashville has a lot to offer. Just two blocks away from Lower Broadway, you will find everything from great food, brews, and live music every night of the week featuring many top emerging stars. If you stop by during Happy Hour from 2 pm-7 pm during the week, the special is $2 off beers, well drinks, and featured wine.

Click on the show calendar here to figure out which one you don’t want to miss!

Born behind the bar in Nashville, the whiskey infusions at Standard Proof Whiskey Co. started as a well-kept secret that was created by bartenders who would share with friends and regulars. This whiskey is aged in American oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof.

The tasting room is open each day and offers cocktails classes and private events. You can learn more about that here. No reservations are needed for a tasting, just go in and all they ask is that you wear a mask until you are seated.
