Curated By

Charlotte‘s plant-based scene is growing. From all-vegan everything to vegetarian-focused foods, cuisine that centers around fruits and veggies is gaining popularity from coast to coast, and it’s no different here in the Queen City.

We love our local plant-based eateries, and we wanted to share just a few of our faves with you! Read on for some of the best plant-based restaurants in Charlotte that we absolutely adore.

Opened by the Mother Earth Group in 2011, Fern: Flavors from the Garden is a concept based on vegan and vegetarian cuisine with a Southern twist. From the decor to the dishes, Fern is all about living green. Originally situated in Plaza-Midwood, those fiending for Fern can now find them in the heart of Dilworth. Dishes vary from season to season but you can always count on mainstays like the Buffalo Chik’n Dip and the Om Burger to hit the spot.

It all started at age 13 when Jennifer Jones Horton became passionate about animal welfare and preventing animal cruelty. Soon enough, she went fully vegan and wanted to share her love of the cuisine with others. Driven by “kindness, compassion, and community,” Sanctuary aims to be a haven for all living things, and a place to celebrate life.
