Living in Orlando can be expensive, but that doesn’t mean dating in Orlando needs to be! There are so many great free date night ideas in Orlando that we just had to share!

Whether you want to enjoy an outdoor movie, take your boo to a museum, garden, or trail, or even if you’re looking for a brewery or winery tour, we’ve curated the ultimate list of Free Date Night Ideas in Orlando!

Outdoor Movies

There’s nothing better than laying out a blanket and enjoying a movie under the stars with your sweetie, and Orlando has plenty of options for outdoor movies for you to choose from! 

Right on the lawn of Lake Eola Park, Movieola usually takes place on the last Friday of the month from April through August. Showcasing family-friendly films, the event begins at 6 p.m. with the movie starting around 8:15. You’re welcome to bring blankets, snacks, and leashed pets.

Next Movieola night is Friday, September 3rd at 8:00pm, showing Cats and Dogs 3: Paws Unite! Don’t forget to bring the popcorn!

The City of Winter Park and Enzian collaborate to produce a cinema series in Winter Park called Popcorn Flicks! This series features classic films for the whole family and is held on the second Thursday of each month in Winter Park’s beautiful parks, and they are free and open to the public!

Be sure to bring a blanket, picnic or snacks, and some friends to join. Popcorn Flicks are typically scheduled at 7pm or 8pm, but may not start until sunset.

Grab your honey and head on up to Altamonte Springs to catch Sunset Cinema at Cranes Roost Park! These family-friendly events are free and open to the public, and participants are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Concessions are also available for purchase.

The next Sunset Cinema is on September 25th at 7:15 featuring Sonic the Hedgehog! Registration is required to attend and each event has a limited guest capacity.

Located in the historic IW Phillips House at the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne, the Wellborn offers a unique menu of crafted cocktails and chef-inspired bites in a beautiful garden setting. Perfect for date night!

Every Thursday you’re invited to join them in the fireplace lounge for two movie showings, one at 6:30pm and one at 9pm. Movies change on a weekly basis and popcorn is always complimentary! Pro-tip, be sure to check out their happy hour from 5pm-7pm before the movie!

Now that the weather is starting to cool down, plan a sweet and free date night strolling through one of Orlando’s gorgeous gardens.

Stroll through 50 acres of beautiful botanical gardens located minutes from downtown Orlando at Harry P. Leu Gardens! Explore one of the largest camellia collections in the U.S., smell a tropical stream garden of gingers, cycads, and bananas, or step back in time with a visit to the historic home.

Tickets are usually $10, but on the first Monday of the month, they offer free daytime admission days! Admission is free all day, with no entry after 4pm.

Kraft Azalea Gardens is a beautiful public garden located on the shore of Lake Maitland in Winter Park. This 5.22-acre garden is shaded by enormous cypress trees and is definitely one of Orlando’s hidden and free gems.

This park is an ideal spot for pictures, parties, or even wedding ceremonies. To make it an even more perfect date night, grab a picnic basket, blanket, and bottle of wine, and enjoy the gorgeous views this park has to offer!

Another fan-favorite free garden in Winter Park is Mead Botanical Garden! With 47 acres to explore, your senses will come alive with the sights, sounds, and scents of the garden.

With it’s hiking trails, creek, boardwalk, tall pine trees, greenhouse, butterfly garden, and pond that’s home to turtles, fish, and wading birds, you’ll find much to discover on your date experience at Mead Botanical Garden. Grab your bike, sneaks, or skates and hit the trails! A great free date opportunity in Orlando is to enjoy nature and get outside with the many different trails we have to offer!

Feeling adventurous for your next date night? Grab your bikes and enjoy 22.26 miles of paved trail from the Orange/Lake County line, the town of Killarney and Oakland, the city of Winter Garden, across U.S. 441, through downtown Apopka to Welch Road. Don’t forget to stop and see the butterfly garden at the Tildenville outpost!

No bike, no problem? It’s a multi-use trail so you can walk, jog, skate, skateboard, or even horseback ride. There are also bike rental stations at the Killarney station in Oakland, and the Winter Garden Station.

Travel through the heart of Orlando on the Orlando Urban Trail, one of the most urban and scenic trails in the Orlando network! This trail runs from Lake Highland through Loch Haven Park, to Mead Garden in Winter Park and includes connections to six lakes, Orlando Cultural Park, and the Gaston Edwards Trail.

To make it an even more fun date, might we suggest stopping at Ivanhoe Brewing, bar hopping on Mills 50, and taking a self-guided mural tour throughout the trail!

Speaking of beer, did you know that Orlando has many free brewery tours at various breweries throughout the city? And you know we couldn’t forget about free winery tours either!

Take your sweetie out for a day date at Lakeridge Winery located in Clermont! Lakeridge is Florida’s largest winery, producing award-winning Muscadine grape wines on a 127-acre estate.

Complimentary winery tours and tastings are offered 7 days a week! You can enjoy a leisurely, self-guided tour where you can taste a selection of their homemade wines. They also offer Weekends at the Winery with live music on their outdoor stage, great food at their food pavilion, and drinks the outdoor wine bar.

Orlando Brewing’s taproom is an oasis for locals and visiting beer lovers alike who like to drink organic beer. Nestled in Orlando’s industrial district, they carry 35 of their own organic beers on draft, along with cider and wine. Not to mention local popups and food trucks on the weekends!

Brewery tours are free and offered Monday-Saturday at 6pm. They do not take reservations, and are first come first serve, so be sure to see the server to grab your ticket!

Built upon the founder’s passion for craft beer, Crooked Can Brewery is a local craft brewery located inside Plant Street Market in the historic downtown Winter Garden. Your date will love this brewery with an onsite tap and tasting room featuring 6 flagship brands in addition to many other limited editions, seasonal, and specialty batches.

Brewery tours are held on Sundays from 12pm-4pm, and the tour starts every hour on the hour. Be sure to book online before, as they tend to sell out fast!

Farmers Markets

We love a good Farmers Market! Orlando has so many good ones to check out, whether you’re in Winter Park, Winter Garden, or even downtown! Check out our favorites free spots below.

Located in the historic downtown Winter Garden, this dog-friendly market offers a large assortment of locally-grown produce and baked goods, to homemade soaps and fresh flowers. You can even sit back and relax to live music from a local area artist!

The Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8am-1pm, and is free to walk around. So grab your date and hit the market to check out some amazing, local Orlando businesses.

The downtown Orlando Farmers Market has been taking place every Sunday on Lake Eola since 1987. You’ll find that the market is much more than just your average market.  Entrance to the market is free, and it is a dog-friendly market! There’s nothing better than a free date supporting community and arts programs from the City Beautiful.

The Morse Museum is an American Art Museum located in Winter Park that is home to the world’s most comprehensive works of American designer Louis Comfort Tiffany. You can also enjoy exhibits of American art pottery, Arts and Crafts furnishings, and the late 19th century and early 20th-century American paintings and graphics. 

Admission to the museum is usually $6, however, admission is free for the month of August! Be sure to keep up with their social media to see when their next free month is!

The Menello Museum of American Art seeks to enrich the public through special exhibitions, publications, and programs that celebrate outstanding traditional and contemporary American artists! They also house the permanent collection of paintings by Earl Cunningham.

Adult admission is $5, but they also participate in the Museums on Us program from Bank of America on the first full weekend of each month. Each cardholder of a Bank of American of Merrill Lynch bank card receives one free general admission.

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum is open year-round to the public and is always free, just register for tickets before your visit. Bring your date and come see why the museum became Florida’s first college museum to be accredited by the American Association of Museums and continues as one of only 4 AAM-accredited museums in Orlando!

21. Sanford Arts and Jazz Fest

Travel up to the historic downtown Sanford to check out the Sanford Arts and Jazz Fest! Every third Thursday of the month, stroll the streets and visit the participating locations all revolving around jazz, and some of your favorite local, independent businesses. 

This free event is from 6pm-8pm and is the product of historic downtown Sanford’s thriving, and growing, arts community!

WineArt Marketplace is a free to attend, community event every first Wednesday of the month in downtown Lake Mary Central Park!
