Holiday On Ice And More Festive Things To Do In Charlotte

A Story By

Thanksgiving is over, half of us are still in food comas, and the other half has already started their holiday shopping. Isn’t that crazy to think about?! The holidays are just around the corner now, and we’re excited to attend a bunch of holiday-themed events.

We’ve gathered a few of our faves events happening in Charlotte this weekend that we think you’ll love, and we’ve also added a ton of events in our app! (Pro tip: You can TOTALLY attend some of these events in one day for double the holiday cheer. Who doesn’t want that?)

Check these out!

What do you get when you mix the NASCAR Hall of Fame and ice skating? You get Holiday On Ice! Located in the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza in Uptown, this ice skating rink is open to skaters and non-skaters alike.

Take photos with a giant polar bear, under the Christmas tree, or in the Ceremonial Garden (which is decorated with beautiful holiday lights)! There will be holiday-themed merchandise for purchase at the souvenir stand, snacks, and of course, hot cocoa!

Admission is $12 for those who bring their own skates and $16 if you need to rent a pair.

🗓 DEC 5 | 5PM–10PM

The 42nd Annual Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour is back! This event showcases the many elegant Victorian homes, urban condominiums, and other historic places that make Fourth Ward famous.

During the holiday season, all of these places are dressed in their holiday best. This is a walkable, self-guided tour, and it includes admission to some of the private uptown homes, live music, a complimentary horse-drawn carriage ride (Friday and Sunday only), free food and beverage tastings (while they last), and of course, complimentary small bites at participating center city restaurants.

Have you ever wanted to experience the roaring 20s? Well, now’s your chance!

The decade of flappers and gangsters is making a comeback. The Charlotte Business Group, Elevate Lifestyle and QC Social Lounge have come together to throw a massive party, complete with a candy cane red carpet, live performances, photo booths, Holiday Photo Opportunities with Santa, and some delicious craft cocktails!

If you’re the type of person who loves dancing the night away, this is the event for you.

🗓 DEC 6 | 6PM–11:30PM
📍 QC Social Lounge

What’s more fun than running with Santa Clause to get you in the holiday spirit? Trade-in your ugly sweater for a runners bib and a Santa outfit (beard and suit provided) and join Ri Ra for a 5K (3.1 miles) run around Uptown Charlotte.

Even better than running with Old Saint Nick himself is the goodies that await you when finished. Live music, Christmas cookies, and a glass of beer (21+ only) will be apart of the post-race party.

🗓 DEC 8 | 12PM–2PM
📍 Ri-Ra Irish Pub

Birdsong Brewing, located in NoDa, is celebrating their 8th anniversary and want you to come join in on the fun!

Whether you’re coming out as a fan of the brewery or as someone who wants to explore somewhere new in their area, this is the perfect event to spend your Saturday. For just $15, you get a commemorative edition anniversary glass and 4 beer tokens. How it works when you get to the event will be one token for a 5-ounce pour or two tokens for a 16-ounce pour.

If beer isn’t your thing, food and live music will be there to entertain event-goers of all ages, as well as a few local market vendors.

🗓 DEC 7 | 11AM–10PM
📍 Birdsong Brewing Co.

Run, Run Rudolph, there's an event next weekend that's calling your name!

The Run Run Rudolph 5K/10K is an awesome way to celebrate the holiday season! Whether you love running, or you’re trying to make space for some of those holiday calories (which, in our opinion, don’t count), this event will not disappoint.

After your run, you can enjoy a fully-stocked hot chocolate bar. There will also be candy cane bottle opener awards and a custom race hoodie!

Make sure you show up in your holiday best because there will be a $50 Charlotte Running Co. gift card given to the best seasonally-dressed male and female race participant.
