Celebrating the Holidays in Katy

A Story By

Aaahh, December.  This month brings magic to Houston and Katy residents ever year.  Lights go up throughout the city, you can smell cinammon and evergreen trees, and the temperature usually dips below 80.

It’s wonderful!  We are scouring the city to find the best ways to enjoy the season all over Houston, but these are our favorite ways to celebrate the holidays in Katy!

Home For the Holidays Gift Market

This market has become tradition in Katy, and is now in its 13th year!  Shop early this year (trust us… this is not the year to leave things until last minute) and browse some unique wares from vendors from across the country as well as local artisans.

Tickets to get into the show are only $5, but if you have a large group, bring the suburban, and you can buy a sleigh bundle for $20 which is good for admission for up to 10 people and drink tickets for everyone.   With the Nutcracker Market being virtual this year, these smaller shows are going to be more popular than ever!

Nov 19 | 2:00PM–6:00PM

Nov 20| 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Nov 21 | 11:00AM–4:00PM

We know that Dewberry Farms isn’t technically in Katy, but it just a short drive up the road, and, man, is it worth it!  They go all out for the season:  lights, tree farm, and an entire Christmas village!  Texas isn’t know for our tree farms, but Dewberry farms has been growing their own for years.

They will load you up on their Dewville Express Train and take you out to pick your perfect tree to take home. The farm would also be an ideal spot to snap some festive photos.  Once the lights go down, climb aboard a wagon and prepare for an overload of twinkling lights.  They have set up tons of magical winter and holiday light displays that are sure to make you smile uncontrollably.

Katy Old-Fashioned Christmas Festival

Katy Market Day is hosting a free day of Christmas fun in Historic Downtown Katy.  Local vendors will be offering everything from art, jewelry, and clothes, to produce, an all kinds of hand made, one of a kind items (perfect for that person who already has everything).  Some of the yummiest food trucks from the area will also be parked downtown to provide you the energy you will need to fuel this day of shopping and fun.

Don’t forget to bring canned goods!  There will be a collection to donate to a local food pantry.

Dec 4 | 10:00AM- 5:00 PM

One of our favorite holiday activities is always just driving around aimlessly looking at the gorgeous displays people have put up.  Fill your travel mug up with some hot cocoa or cider and head out to the Pin Oak Subdivision for some of the best displays around!

Weave our way through the neighborhood and gawk at the impressive lights:  thousands of lights, animations, and perfectly timed musical coreograhphy can provide hours of magical entertainment.

No set hours, but please be respectful and keep in mind that houses may not be lit up all night.

Jingle All the Way

While we are overjoyed at all the festive activities that are coming to Katy, there are plenty of things to enjoy year round.  Check out our Katy neighborhood guide for some of our favorites.
