Margarita and Taco Festival and More Events in Austin This Weekend

A Story By

Why hello April, nice of you to finally show up to this little party we call 2019. You’ve missed a lot the last couple of months but boy are we happy you’ve arrived. Winter was brutal, the rain lasted for what felt like forever, and us Texans were beginning to feel a little desperate for some warmer weather and more importantly, sunshine!

SO finally we have received what we so patiently have been dreaming of, and lucky for us, you’re bringing some pretty awesome stuff to do in Austin to kick off the month. Not only do we get to soak in some rays, we get to soak in some tequila at the Margarita and Taco Festival. However, if soaking up the sun isn’t your thing, no worries, check out KUTX Rock the Park under the night sky.

Regardless of what you’re looking to do we are sure to have your weekend plans covered.

A double whammy, two peas in a pod, the perfect pair: margaritas, AND tacos. For the first time Austin (well Round Rock actually) is having a Margarita and Taco Festival. Do you really need the rundown on this event after knowing the name? Probably not, but you better believe we’re going to tell you all about it.

Upon arrival you will receive a margarita sampling card and voting chips, what you do with them is totally up to you. Sample over 20 of Round Rock’s best margaritas and drop your voting chips into your favorites. Margarita flavors range from the typical flavors like peach and lime to a few interesting sounding combinations such as cinnamon pineapple and chocolate.

Ticket levels begin with non-drinkers and go up to veteran drinkers. However, if you don’t have enough samples with your original ticket, there will be additional drink tickets available for purchase, so you have the opportunity to test out as many margarita flavors as you’d like.

All those margarita samples are sure to make you hungry and luckily there will be more than 20 food trucks serving up some amazing treats. In addition to food, there will be live music all afternoon from talented local musicians.

Parents, unfortunately, this is a 21 and up only event, so the kiddos will need to be left at home.

Bottoms up!

Back for the 10th year, Quest for the Summit brings people together from all walks of life to raise money for charity. Enjoy an evening at one of our favorite venues in town, Fair Market. Snack on appetizers provided by Crave, one of Austin’s top caterers, and enjoy cocktails from Tito’s Vodka, and beer from Zilker Brewing!

We love events that benefit the community, you get to enjoy socializing with friends, eating great food, and sipping on delicious drinks–all while raising money for a good cause. In this case, Explore Austin! A local non-profit focused on empowering our youth through mentoring and outdoor adventure.

Explore Austin has a team approach, matching 15 sixth graders living in low-income areas of town and pairs them with five adult volunteers. Over the course of a six-year journey, these children have the opportunity to go on monthly outdoor Saturday challenges and an annual week-long summer wilderness trip. The lifelong impact the mentors have on these children helps to build character, integrity, and courage to help prepare them for the rest of their lives.

Warmer weather means concerts in the park are back! Grab your blankets, round up the family, and help KUTX rock Mueller Park this Friday night.

Arrive early and grab dinner from one of the food trucks on site, or bring your own food and have a picnic. Before the show starts take the kids to get their face painted, rock-and-roll style. Swing by the Mueller tent where the kids can color and adults can grab a cold beverage.

Now, for the whole reason you’re heading out to Mueller Park, the concert! Enjoy performances from White Denim and DJ Jester the Filipino Fist.

If for some reason the night gets rained out, don’t worry, they have set a rain date for April 12th. If that is the case, we will keep y’all updated on any event changes on our Instagram page.

KUTX Rock the Park series has one more date set for Spring on May 3rd, so if you can’t make it in April, you always have another opportunity.
