We made it, Orlando!
Our most favorite time of the year is finally here! And what better way to celebrate the merriest month of the year than to kick December off with the Tree Lighting Ceremony at ICON Park?!
We attended the ceremony this year—and saw Santa, the Grinch, and I-Drive in partnership with I-Drive District through holiday-themed spectacles. We left ICON Park with a winter cheer to carry us until the end of the year!
So if you‘re looking to celebrate the holidays at ICON Park at any point during December, we‘re here to give you a firsthand sneak-peek of everything going on!
Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony 🎄
After a long-awaited countdown, Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings flipped the switch to immerse I-Drive in twinkling lights.
Sponsored by the I-Drive Business Improvement District, the tree was the star of the show on top of the array of festive decorations garnishing the area.
The 50-foot, official I-Drive Holiday Tree, carefully decorated from top to bottom for the kickoff event, flooded ICON Park with festive colors. AND—each light creatively transformed into various holiday shapes with the help of ICON-ic free 3D glasses!
Missed the lighting ceremony? The Holiday Tree will be up at ICON Park until New Year’s Day!
The Performances 🎶
To keep the holiday hymns going, the I-Ride Trolley Quartet prepared traditional numbers to perform for the crowd. Accompanied by quick-witted jokes and hand-tapping jingle bells throughout their performance, the Quartet delivered that holiday show-stopping performance for all.
The Characters 🎅🏻
Nestled near the Wheel, The Santa Workshop Experience is a must if you want to take ICON-ic holiday photos this year. You can snap that pic with Santa or at several other scenes in the workshop. PLUS, every child participating in The Experience gets a FREE ticket to ride The Wheel. Their accompanying adults get 50 percent off their tickets. Reserve your spot now!
Making an appearance at the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Grinch is known to pop up throughout the holidays with his dog Max at ICON Park. Although definitely on the naughty list this year, this character is sure to bring you some holiday cheer—in his own Grinchy way!
The Holidays at ICON Park!
Up until Christmas Eve, you can bring your favorite Cindy-Lou-Who-Crew and celebrate the holidays in so many ways at ICON Park.
Whether you‘re saving money for your gift list or are looking for the best festivities for the whole fam, there‘s something fun for everyone.
Sip on chocolate drinks, munch on cupcakes, and decorate your own cookies at The Wheelhouse Market. Ride around on the decked-out Pearl Express to tour the area. Snap a free photo-op atop building blocks, next to life-sized toy bears or surrounded by holiday trees. Lastly, view Orlando in a Holiday Capsule on the Wheel, decorated for the festive season!
