I don’t know about y’all but it’s been a pretty long year already. I thought January was a long month but dang, February is really putting up a fight. For only having 29 days (whoop, leap year) one would think it would fly by, wrong.

I say all this now and next thing I know we are going to wake up and it’s going to be December. So while I drag on time moving slowly I am reminded to take a step back and enjoy life and all that comes with it.

With so many fun and unique things to do in Austin you should never get bored and if you do don’t forget to check out Stuff to Do in Austin’s City Guide and on Instagram because we will keep you in the loop on all the best happenings.

5Th Annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade Mardi Gras Dog Parade And More Things To Do In Austin This Weekend 2022

1. The 5th Annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade

I think my favorite thing about ABGB (besides their delicious pizza and tasty beer) is how they manage to turn every holiday into a dog-friendly party. To make it even better they are always raising money for different pet-friendly charities around Austin!

Only a few weekends ago they were celebrating Valentine’s Day with a Sweet Barks party and now they are giving the people of Austin what we want: a Mardi Gras party turned dog parade!

This year’s event will be raising money for Pug Rescue Austin! They will be on-site collecting donations AND will have adoptable pugs with them.

Pups and humans are encouraged to dress for the part, any dog who is in costume will be included in the costume contest for “best dressed.” The big parade will kick off at 4PM and everyone is invited to participate.

All afternoon you can enjoy special food items such as gumbo, andouille, and more thanks to ABGB’s Chef Tim. Don’t you worry either, because of course there will be king cake for you to get your hands on as well as plenty of beer. Live music kicks off at 5PM.

While we’re all dreaming of warmer weather, there are a few ways to keep warm while we wait for temperatures to rise. Such as chili. Lucky for you I know where you can get free chili this Saturday!

Scholz Garten is hosting their 2nd annual Chili Cookoff and you get to sample the contestant’s chili for free! Samples will start around 2PM and will continue until they are gone.

Hang around for the winner to be announced at 4:30PM and enjoy music thanks to DJ Island Time!

“Come on down for an official Scholz Chili Tastin’, Live Music Listenin’, Cold Beer Drinkin’, Whiskey Slingin’ Good Time.” I couldn’t have said it better myself, see you Saturday!

You have the chance to kickstart your weekend early at Spider House Cafe where things get a little weird but really funny.

Sometimes you need a comedy show to give you that extra pep in your step to get you through the last workday before the weekend. Once a month, Spider House brings together four of their favorite comics to talk about…well…you’ll just have to go Thursday to find out!

Oh, and it’s free! Who doesn’t love free entertainment? Show up, grab a drink, and laugh your Thursday night away!

I run, you run, we all run for BEER! If there’s one thing you can’t go wrong with its exercise followed by beer.

Get up and get moving Saturday morning at The Brewtorium where you will run a 5K through the surrounding neighborhoods. The run begins and ends at the brewery and once you finish, reward yourself with an ice-cold beer.

Your ticket includes one drink, a signature pint glass to take home with you, goodies, and giveaways. Hang around the brewery for an afternoon full of live music, food, local vendors, and of course, more beer!

If you aren’t able to make it this Saturday, no worries. The run is part of the Texas Brewery Running Series and there are plenty more planned at different breweries around the city.

It’s such a fun and unique way to explore Austin on foot and try out the local beers!
