It’s no secret that Charlotte is growing and with that growth comes lots of new choices of cuisine. No matter where your tastes lie, there’s bound to be a new spot that carries what you crave.

From the traditional to down-home to eccentric, we’ve made a list of a few of the tasty, top-tier new restaurants in Charlotte to try! Could one of them be your new fave?

📸: Orto Noda

Orto NoDa

One of the tastiest new additions to the NoDa neighborhood is Orto, James Beard Foundation Semifinalist Chef Paul Verica’s latest venture.

Italian for “kitchen garden”, Orto is an ingredient-focused restaurant that pulls out all the stops to serve up authentic Northern Italian cuisine like house-made pasta, handmade pizzas, and more. With a classic yet cool interior, Orto is perfect for a memorable night out in NoDa.

Check out the Penne or Risotto for an Old World treat, or one of their pizzas if you’re more in that mood!

Ruby Sunshine

Originating in New Orleans, Ruby Sunshine is a tasty take on traditional breakfast and brunch from the owners of the Ruby Slipper Cafe.

You can never go wrong with the Fried Green Tomatoes, Beignets or any breakfast staple, but if you’re feeling adventurous check out something a little different like the Grilled Fish St. Peter (grilled fish of the day on a cheesy grit cake bed, sauteed with spinach and tomatoes and topped with a shrimp skewer and Creole hollandaise sauce) or something from their seasonal menu!
