Best Spring Activities in Philly

March, April & May: the best months of the year!

Now that the sun is shining, flowers and trees are blooming around us, people are feeling substantially happier and there are more hours in the day to spend outside, it’s time to schedule in some Spring events in Philadelphia! While the list of activities and events to do in warm weather are endless, scroll on for some of my personally anticipated festivities and more that are happening around the city this springtime!

Rothman Orthopedics Roller Rink at Dilworth Park

We can officially swap out the ice skates for roller skates and meet back at Dilworth Park for Rothman Orthopedics’ old-school, retro inspired roller rink!

If you’re looking for an affordable, unique experience, starting April 21st – July 16th, enjoy one of Philadelphia’s latest springtime attractions located in the heart of Center City, outside of City Hall at 1 S. 15th St. (West Side of City Hall)!

Reserve an hour long session to glide around on a fun checkerboard rink with a colorful overhead art installation (which makes for super cute photos btw), while enjoying quality time and with your friends and family!

While you’re there also be sure to enjoy Dilworth Park’s dancing fountains, Air Grille Garden and Bar for rink-inspired drinks and bites and the Dilworth Park Café for more desserts and snacks! Oh,  and if you’re lucky you might run into some random pet ducks that were also out to enjoy the weather!

It's Baseball Season, Baby!

With the Phillies battling it out into the World Series at the end of 2022 and the Eagles just recently making it to the Super Bowl championship game, there has been a ton of excitement for our teams lately and I think it’s safe to say fans are amped up for hopefully another exciting sports season to begin!

Picture it now: hot dog in one hand, Chickie’s & Pete’s crab fries on your lap waiting to quite literally be devoured, a cold beer in the holder next to you, the stadium lights illuminating the scene, and the sound of a baseball hitting the bat as the crowd screams at the hope of a line drive through center field. Can you already feel the endorphins releasing?? Because I can! What better way to enjoy some breezy, 60-70 degree weather than among a sea of red and white at Citizen’s Bank Park!

Phillies Opening Week: April 6th, 8th and 9th @ Citizens Bank Park

The team’s home opener at Citizens Bank Park is scheduled for Thursday, April 6th, 2023 against the Cincinnati Reds @ 3:05 p.m.

PHS Philadelphia Flower Show

Feast your eyes on the nation’s largest horticultural event, which take’s place right here in the heart of Philadelphia. This attraction is full to the brink with stunning designs and displays that will continue to exceed your expectations as you approach each exhibit!

Taking Place between March 4th-12th, 2023, the Philadelphia Flower Show has returned indoors  at the Philadelphia Convention Center.

If you’re considering going, don’t hesitate since the event leaves as quickly as it comes and you will have to wait another year to finally experience this amazing attraction!

The remaining dates and hours are as follows!

March 5 – 9  – 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
March 10 & 11  – 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
March 12 – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Philly Love Run & The Broad Street Run

There is no better way to take in the city streets than running directly through them. Not only is it fun to challenge yourself to completing the race, but you will get the chance to experience the main streets of center city without the usual traffic and busy streets. Plug in your headphones, strap on some good sneakers, and discover new vantage points of the city while proving to yourself just how capable you are!

The Philadelphia Love Run half marathon will take place March 26, 2023 & the Independence Broad Street Run (10-mile) is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Rittenhouse Square Fine Craft Fair

If you’re like me and enjoy perusing around the city when the weather’s nice in the chance of stumbling upon any kind of outdoor event taking place, then you’ll for sure enjoy this! The Rittenhouse Square Fine Craft Fair makes it’s pop up appearance in the middle of May when the weather literally couldn’t be any more perfect. The sidewalks fill in jammed pack with all sorts of artists and craft makers there to display their unique and inspiring artistic creations! You can easily spend hours in the square during this event, as many will bring blankets and picnic items to enjoy with friends and their fellow neighbors after walking around, exploring the tents.
