Spring break is right around the corner, which means the kids are home from school and ready for some fun! Planning to be in the Dallas area for the week? Luckily, there are plenty of fantastic spring break activities in Dallas for kids! From educational to just plain fun, here’s a list of what you should add to your itinerary.

If your family has never been to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, you have to go! With five floors packed with information, exhibits, and activities, your kids are sure to find something that piques their interest.

Learn about birds in the Rose Hall of Birds, ancient fossils in the T. Boone Pickens Life Then And Now Hall, and the stars and planets in the Expanding Universe Hall. Let your kids test their athletic prowess in the Lamar Hunt Family Sports Hall or have hands-on fun in the Moody Family Children’s Museum. Check out their website for spring break hours and more!

For older kids, take them to the Sixth Floor Museum to learn about a moment historic moment that took place in the heart of the city. Located within the former Texas School Book Depository building, this spot remembers the assassination and legacy of President John F. Kennedy and the culture of the 1960s.

Explore the museum then step outside to view the spot of his death and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza just steps from the museum.

Though most Dallas museums have an admission fee, the Dallas Museum of Art is totally free and a great place to explore with kids! The museum showcases over 25,000 works of art spanning over 5,000 years of creativity.

Find African, Asian, design and decorative, European, Islamic, Latin American and contemporary — and that doesn’t even cover all of it! Be sure to stop by the Center for Creative Connections for hands-on creative activities.

Heading to the aquarium to see thousands of fish and other creatures is another one of our favorite spring break activities for kids in Dallas! Begin your visit to the rainforest section as you view exotic birds.

As you travel through the non-aquatic exhibits, you’ll be able to see crocodiles, otters, toucans, monkeys, and more. In their water-life exhibits, you’ll find manatees, jellyfish, sharks, seadragons, and more!

Though outside of Dallas proper, the National Video Game Museum is a great option for the kids who love gaming! North of Dallas in Frisco, this spot is the country’s first dedicated video game museum and features the rich history of the video game industry.

Check out all 20 interactive exhibits and be sure to spend some time playing vintage games!

Get the kids outside with a trip to White Rock Lake. This spacious park not far from downtown offers a variety of activities both active and passive.

Stroll, run, or bike down their 9.33-mile trail, set up a picnic outside on the grass or at a pavilion, or try your hand at frisbee, kite flying or just playing catch. There are plenty of options for activities outside with kids of all ages!
