Coronavirus: How To Support Nonprofits and Charities in Atlanta

There are so many Good Samaritans in Atlanta going above and beyond to help out our community! Local nonprofits and charities in Atlanta are also doing all they can to support those in need in our area. We are so grateful and appreciative for all their hard work and contributions!

There are also so many ways that you can lend a hand and help out the Atlanta community. We will continue to add to this list as we discover new organizations and ways to help out!

Amazing Individuals Shoutout

  • Grey Cohen
    16 year-old creator of Meal Bridge, a new nonprofit platform that allows people to purchase meals from local restaurants for donation to hospital workers.
  • Mariana Novak and Ted Golden
    Creators of  ATL Food Bingo, a digital bingo game that encourages the support of local restaurants and the chance to win a restaurant prize pack worth $300.
  • Ryan Wilson & TK Petersen 
    Founders of The Gathering Spot. TGS has pledged to contribute $15,000 of the April’s Membership dues to directly support small businesses, creatives and entrepreneurs within its membership community.

Local Nonprofits & Charities

  • Open Hand Atlanta 
    Home delivered meals and comprehensive nutrition care to those in need. Most clients are elderly or have underlying conditions. Make a donation or contribute your time as a volunteer!
  • Atlanta Community Food Bank
    Distributes meals to 600 nonprofit partner feeding programs in metro Atlanta and North Georgia. The best way you can help is by donating to fund their emergency response. 
  • Giving Kitchen
    Provides emergency assistance to food service workers through financial support and network of community resources. Donate here to help support Atlanta’s food service workers. 
  • Meals On Wheels Atlanta
    Supports senior independence through meals, shelter, education, and community. Volunteer or donate through their website, Venmo (@MOWATL), or Cash App ($MOWATL). 
  • Atlanta Mission
    Provides a safety net for low-income travelers, veterans, newcomers, and residents in crisis. You can donate here.
  • Love Beyond Walls 
    Committed to raising awareness and building up people struggling with poverty. You can volunteer or donate  here

Food and Beverage Industry

Healthcare Workers

  • The Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena
    Partnering to sponsor two restaurants, Miller Union and Forza Storico, to prepare meals using products from local farmers and 4,000 meals a week for 4 weeks to healthcare workers in Atlanta. 
  • Moe’s Original BBQ
    Set up a GoFundMe page and promised to provide 50 boxed lunches for every $500 raised for medical personnel and essential workers. 

How To Help Our Furry Best Friends

  • Angels Among Us
    You can donate to the Angels Among Us Animal Rescue that’s dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats form high-kill shelters in North GA here. Wish list donations will also be accepted for dogs & cats!
  • Atlanta Humane Society
    While the two locations will be closed to the public until further notice, you can still donate goods from their Wish List! You can place the donated items in the red bins outside their two locations. Donations are also accepted online through their website.

Easy Ways to Be A Good Samaritan

Dunkin’ is enabling you to send your hero a small thanks for all they do with their newly launched Dunkin’ Coffee Break site! For every gift card purchased, Dunkin’ will also donate $1, up to $100,000, to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation emergency funds, that go straight to non-profits helping families affected by coronavirus.
