Up along the street of South Congress, there is a multitude of restaurants of various types of cuisine including Lucky Robot, Güero’s Taco Bar, Jo’s Coffee, Perla’s, Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Neighborhood Sushi, June’s All Day, Home Slice Pizza and more! There are also numerous hotels that feature tasty happy hours and/or live entertainment such as South Congress Hotel, Austin Motel, and Hotel San Jose. Whether you’re looking for a nice meal, a refreshing drink, or just a casual stroll outside, SoCo has you covered.

  • Nestled away just off the sidewalk on Austin’s iconic South Congress Avenue, Gelato Paradiso is a hidden gem offering traditional, handcrafted Italian gelato. All made in-house, gelato flavors at Gelato Paradiso range from classics like Stracciatella and Pistacchio to monthly flavors featuring seasonal and Texas-inspired ingredients as well as vegan Sorbettos.   • An upscale salad bistro featuring fresh, farm-to-table fare, Vinaigrette is the perfect destination for a nourishing lunch or dinner. The restaurant’s large, serene oak tree-shaded patio is ideal for al fresco dining. Vinaigrette also features craft cocktails, curated wine as well as tinctures, and tonics that nourish both mind and body. Vinaigrette also serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.

  • A modern steakhouse located in downtown Austin with an unforgettable full-service experience, J-Prime Steakhouse is the ultimate hot spot during SXSW. The menu features their chef’s innovative recipes with the highest quality premium cuts as well as unique flair and flavor. J-Prime also offers a complete craft bar with a variety of signature cocktails, beer, and wine. Social hour is available at the bar only and includes $15 select appetizers and $12 select drinks.   • Located on South Lamar near downtown Austin, El Naranjo is an interior Mexican restaurant led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Iliana de la Vega. Diners can enjoy traditional Mexican dishes, craft cocktails, and wine in El Naranjo’s intimate dining room or on the patio for dinner Tuesday through Saturday as well as brunch on Sunday.

  • The weekend of Saturday, March 18 & Sunday, March, 19 El Chile will be selling their Mimosa Carafes for only $5 during brunch.

  • TenTen

Location: 501 W 6th Street, Austin, TX 78701

Downtown Austin’s modern Japanese restaurant, TenTen just recently launched a NEW lunch menu featuring some of TenTen’s classic appetizers, Donburis, Kushiyaki, Robata dishes, handrolls, and more! Lunch will now be available every Friday from 11 am – 2 pm.  

Don’t forget about dinner! TenTen’s menu highlights crave-able, shareable dishes, from the freshest sashimi and sushi to flavor-forward robata, Japanese-style grilled meats, and vegetables. The bar offers a full sake selection, cocktails inspired by Japanese flavors, and a curated wine and beer list.

  • Devil May Care

Location: 500 West Sixth Street, Austin, Texas 78701

At the corner of West 6th and San Antonio, an underground lounge awaits: with late-night libations and entertainment, Devil May Care offers a seductive experience, unlike all the rest! From Wednesday to Sunday, Devil May Care offers robust Mediterranean-inspired menus, fine wines, and craft cocktails. Prepare to heighten your senses as you descend into the lounge.

  • The Well

Where To Eat Downtown 


  • Fareground – Fareground is right in the SXSW action, and your one-stop-shop when it comes to downtown drinking and dining. Complete with two full service bars and six eateries, Fareground makes it easy to pick and choose exactly what you’re craving. DRINK offers a daily $4 happy hour starting at 5 p.m. Enjoy $4 draft beers, house cocktails, and house wines. Along with happy hour, Fareground also offers brunch on Saturday and Sunday featuring brunch plates from around the world and boozy libations like Bloody Marias, Brunch Punch, $5 mimosas, and more. Their brunch runs all day from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fareground is located at 111 Congress Ave.
  • Tacodeli on Congress – If you’re looking to chow down on tacos while soaking up the South By vibes, Tacodeli on Congress is the spot for you. With their expansive menu of breakfast tacos, and beef, chicken, seafood, and veggie tacos, Tacodeli makes it easy to grab a quick bite on the go, or to sit down and stay a while. Their dog-friendly patio has plenty of seating perfect for queso snacking and margarita sipping. On Thursday, March 16th, start your morning with the Tacodeli x Vital Farms Migas Meetup! From 9-11 a .m., stop by Tacodeli’s Congress location for a free migas breakfast taco while supplies last.  Tacodeli on Congress is also expanding their hours for dinner service beginning March 13th for dine-in only. The restaurant is extending their hours from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Starting March 27th, they will offer online pick-up and delivery service until 9 p.m. Tacodeli is located in the heart of Congress at 301 Congress Ave.
  •  Walton’s Fancy & Staple – Grab a pastry and a good latte, and start your morning at Walton’s Fancy and Staple. Walton’s opens bright and early at 8am making it ideal for early risers who want to kick start their South By experience before the crowds start rolling in. Their Fancy Lunch combo is complete with half a sandwich paired with either a cup of soup or side salad and is a great option when looking for a light bite that’ll leave you feeling satisfied. Looking for a boozy sip to start your day? During SXSW, Walton’s will be serving their special SXSW Bloody Mary made with house-made Bloody Mary mix, Deep Eddy vodka, bacon, and a mini slider with cheddar and sweet onion aioli. Feeling a little tired from yesterday’s shenanigans? Walton’s will also serve a SXSW Hangover Burger made with a fresh challah bun, sweet onion aioli, fried green tomatoes, white cheddar, and bacon. Where To Drink in East Austin 


  • Cape Bottle Room – If you love wine, charcuterie, and cool vibes, head to Cape Bottle Room on the East Side. Cape Bottle Room is a wine lounge that only serves sustainable South African Wines. On Wednesdays, Cape Bottle Room offers an all day $5 Happy Hour menu and on Thursdays they offer 30% off all bottles enjoyed in-house. They also have meat and cheese boards made with Antonelli’s cheeses and South African meats. Along with being a relaxing wine lounge, Cape Bottle Room also acts as a wine retailer. Their walls are filled from top to bottom with amazing South African wines that you’re able to purchase and enjoy at home. Cape Bottle Room offers a CBR Wine Club for those looking to take a deeper look into South African Wines. The CBR Wine Club includes three bottles of South African Wine every month that range from sparkling, white, rosé, orange and red wine.   • Progress Coffee – Whether you’re looking for a little caffeine kick or a hand-crafted cocktail, Progress Coffee’s new brick and mortar location in the Cherrywood neighborhood has got you covered. Their backyard patio is perfect for escaping the South By chaos and catching up with friends. They have Burro Cheese and Pueblo Veijo onsite so you can grab a bite and a cold brew and get fueled up for your SXSW shenanigans. From Espresso Martinis to Lavender Agave Lattes, Progress Coffee offers a little something for everyone. Progress Coffee is open daily from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. and is located at 3421 N Interstate Hwy 35.
  • Revelry Kitchen + Bar – Revelry’s spacious patio, stellar food and drink menu, and party vibes make it the perfect SXSW destination. Located on the Eastside at 1410 E. 6th St., they offer a weekday happy hour with $5 appetizers, $2 off house cocktails, $1 off local beers and more. Revelry is celebrating SXSW with a crawfish boil and Jell-O shots on March 17th, a performance by David Thacker Band at 9 p.m. on the 18th, and a Sunday Funday Hangover Brunch with DJ Feeniks on the 19th.


Where To Eat & Drink Outside Of The Festival 


  • Aviary Wine & Kitchen – Escape the SX hustle and bustle at Aviary Wine & Kitchen. Located at 2110 S. Lamar Blvd., Aviary’s extensive wine list and pairing-focused food menu offers diners a one of a kind experience. Their rotating seasonal menu utilizes farm-to-table ingredients sourced locally wherever possible. They offer happy hour Tuesday – Saturday featuring $10 Wagyu Smashburgers, $10 cheese and coppa boards, ½ off all bottles of wine under $100, and happy hour pricing on “chef specials”. They also have all-day Sunday Service specials including $2 off wine by the glass, $2 off beers, and $10 off bottles. Aviary is located at 2120 S. Lamar Blvd.
  • TLC – Boil season has arrived, and TLC is here to feed you and your crew. Group dining is the name of the game at TLC with both spacious indoor and outdoor seating. Customize a boil for the table with options like King Crab, Little Neck Clams, Snow Crab, Gulf Shrimp, Maine Lobster and more, and flavor your boil with their signature spices and sauces like Cajun Spice, Texas Heat, Citrus Pepper, and more. TLC is the perfect place to stop in for a drink because they’re currently offering $5 frosé and ½ off all bottles of champagne all day, everyday! Along with their daily deals, TLC has a weekday happy hour from 3-5:30 p.m. consisting of $7 plates and cocktails.   • Sazan – Find peace outside of the South By craze at Sazan Ramen. Located in North Austin, Sazan serves up cozy bowls of ramen, crispy curry chicken wings, Steamies dumplings, mochi, craft cocktails, and more. Sazan’s creamy Paitan ramen is the epitome of comfort food. Their interior is decorated beautifully, helping you find your inner zen when you need it most. Seven stories up and a world away. Zanzibar, is a lush tropical rooftop terrace and pool oasis with stunning views of downtown.
