Hi everyone! I’m Zoe (@tampaish): a local foodie, new cat mom (my kitty’s instagram is @omyelia!), and medical student. I love supporting local small businesses, and I so miss those pre-COVID days of going out to local markets and meeting local creatives! Another one of my favorite things is bubble tea, aka boba, aka “those teas with weird black balls at the bottom”… (Psst: guess what, if you hate those balls, you can just get the tea without them.) Lucky for me, Tampa Bay has lots of boba spots!! I wrote a post on my blog detailing my favorite spots last year, and I’d like to share some all-time faves all around Tampa Bay with you now, which all happen to be small family-owned businesses:

Best Spots for Boba

Kaleisia Tea (Fletcher Ave) – local hotspot for great tea and vegan-friendly food. Everything is so fresh and their indoor space is great for meeting up with friends, or studying (inside space still closed due to covid, but they just re-opened up their patio). My favorite drinks are the strawberry matcha latte with soy milk (pictured), coconut oolong tea, and blue mist tea with almond milk.
Sweetea Cafe (Wesley Chapel) – Ahh, bubble tea expanding north!! Sweetea is a family-owned small tea and Vietnamese food cafe that has tons of tea flavors and toppings. In addition to boba, my favorite topping is the fig jelly and crystal agar. Their food… is incredible. Perhaps the best pho I’ve had in Tampa, and definitely for the price! Not to mention, the SWEETEST customer service (their name doesn’t lie!)
Moonlight Boba (Pinellas Park) – There are 2 boba shops named similarly near St. Pete which are unrelated to each other, but Moonlight Boba opened last year and is my go-to for good bubble tea in Pinellas Park! I also LOVE their food, esp the short stir fried noodles. I love every tea I’ve had by them – the most surprisingly good one was the white grape oolong tea :O
Bobacup  (near USF) – this cute little space always has the BEST decor, great for photo ops [see pics]. My favorite is the new pumpkin cloud milk tea or avocado snow with boba! They currently have $3 milk tea Mondays, which is a great way to try out boba if you haven’t already!
