The Best Coffee Shops in Fishtown to Grab a Cup of Joe

Curated By

Whether you’re a habitual coffee drinker or your taste in drinks leans more towards the caffeine-free, you’ll find something to love about these coffee shops in Fishtown. They all offer an appealing selection of food along with coffee, espresso-based beverages, tea, juices, and more. They’re ideal places to work, study, catch up with friends, or just sit back and relax with a book or newspaper.

There are La Colombe coffee shops in several states throughout the country, but the Fishtown location is their flagship café and by far their most impressive. One of the best coffee shops in Fishtown, La Colombe is situated in a large refurbished warehouse space. There’s ample seating and a large drinks and food menu available, including pastries, sandwiches, and salads. Diet-conscious patrons can view a full list of nutritional information on La Colombe’s website. After your visit, score gifts for coffee-loving friends and family or treat yourself to items from their extensive online store.

Coffee and music make for an excellent combination at Milkcrate Café, a trendy record boutique and (in our opinion) one of the best coffee shops in Fishtown. They buy and sell everything that you need for a top-quality listening experience, including new and used records, turntables, and more. If you’re thinking of getting into records as a hobby, looking to downsize your collection, or simply love all things musical, Milkcrate Café is a great place to visit. Food and beverage options include La Colombe coffee and an all-day breakfast menu.

The owners of ReAnimator, easily one of the best coffee shops in Fishtown, have a serious respect for all things coffee. Java connoisseurs will appreciate the fabulous taste of their single-origin and blended coffees sourced from Ethiopia and Guatemala. The interior is modern and bright with tables of varying sizes to accommodate small and medium-sized parties. Need your fix, but can’t make it out to the café? Sign up for a subscription and ReAnimator will ship their Keystone, Foundational, or Seasonal blends right to your door.

Saturday–Sunday | 8:00am–3:00pm

Those who prefer loose leaf tea to locally-roasted coffee will feel right at home at Steap and Grind. This women-owned café, one of our favorite coffee shops in Fishtown, offers an immense selection of exotic teas alongside espresso-based drinks, smoothies, and breakfast and lunch fare. We recommend the Fig-getaboutit toast, which features goat cheese, fig jam, prosciutto and chopped almonds—yum! Plus, Steap and Grind is dog-friendly, so don’t hesitate to bring your pup.

Monday–Sunday | 8:00am–2:00pm

📍 1619 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143

Rounding out our list of fabulous coffee shops in Fishtown, Buzz Café proves that you don’t need to go to a museum or even sign up for a Mural Arts tour to enjoy great art in Philadelphia. Terrence Larragione, the café’s founder, is a prolific artist who displays his work exclusively at the café. There’s so much to enjoy at Buzz Café, from the décor to the delicious coffee, tea, and breakfast food (served all day). If you have a penchant for spicy dishes, try the Inferno: scrambled eggs with jalapeño hash, ghost pepper slaw, and more.
