Hey Austin, Lexi here bringing you all the best stuff to do in Austin this weekend. Trust me, you do not want to miss out on what’s in store–from Austin pride week celebrations to all things hot wings and everything in between.
Regardless of what you are looking to get into this weekend, you’re sure to find something on this list that catches your eye.
For those of you in East Austin or who enjoy venturing over to the east side, be sure to check out some of my frequently-visited happy hour hot spots at the bottom. I’m talking happy hour every single day of the week, including weekends, and there’s a spot for drinks before attending any event!
It’s pride week in Austin and there are SO many things going on around town to celebrate. The biggest of them all is the annual parade and festival taking over Austin this Saturday.
More than 400,000 attended the celebration in 2018, and with more expected to attend this year, it’s sure to be the largest pride celebration in Austin yet! Enjoy a day full of carnival games, inflatable games, drag queen storytime, and plenty of pride to go around.
Explore more than 140 vendors accompanied by live music all afternoon. You’re sure to work up quite the appetite with all of this fun, but no worries because they will have a great selection of food and drink options for you to choose from!
While the festival requires a ticket to attend, the parade is free and open to all. Beginning at the Texas State Capitol, the route marches down Congress Avenue, turning right on 4th Street through the Warehouse District. You can expect two emcee stages located throughout the route at the intersection of Congress and 4th, and the Rooftop at Rain!
2. Articulate Artist Market
If y’all have learned anything from these weekly blogs (besides all the best stuff to do in Austin, obviously), markets are no joke here.
The monthly markets at the Buzz Mill are held every third Sunday of the month (with the exception of August). They’re full of local vendors, artists, and other creative individuals. In addition to the market, enjoy live music while you explore everything they have. Grab a cocktail and dance the evening away in a great atmosphere!
This is the final night market for 2019 because starting in September the markets run from 12PM–6PM throughout the rest of the year.

Is it getting hot in here or is it just Austin, Texas in the summer? Well, actually it’s the Hot Wings & Hot Things Festival, but that summer heat is definitely helping out.
This weekend you have two opportunities to experience all the wings and hot stuff your heart desires. That’s right, the festival is stretched over Saturday and Sunday to give you plenty of time to indulge in all the goodies.
Saturday, you can expect delicious wings with some extra jazz to really spice up the evening. Grab a tasty cocktail, check out the moonbounce, and jam with the live DJ spinning tunes. Be sure to hang around to see who will be named the wing champ of the day.
Sunday, you will experience all the hot stuff you could hope for, such as a hot sauce bar! There will be a fire spinner to really bring the heat.
Make sure you have your cocktail in hand and one on deck because it’s about to be one spicy weekend.
4. Cool Summer Nights: Space
Summer may be coming to an end but those temperatures are just starting to heat up. Escape the heat at the Texas State History Museum with their monthly event, Cool Summer Nights!
Cool off with some sweet entertainment for all ages. This month you can expect an evening full of food, friends, and fun. With a lineup of activities this awesome, it’s hard to list off everything but you better believe I’m going to try, so let’s get straight to the good stuff.
You can expect to see activated exhibits with living history participants, a cash bar with themed Tito’s cocktails, food available for purchase at the Story of Texas Café, samples from Waterloo Sparkling Water and Addison Coffee Roasters, community chalk art out on the plaza, improv performances from ColdTowne Theater, a live DJ, and document your night in the photobooth!
To make it even better, this month’s theme is space, so they will have an array of activities dedicated to the great beyond. Be sure to check out and interact with visual designers and sound art performers to create soundscapes of the earth’s atmosphere. Get creative using fabric transfers with western and space-themed imagery using wintergreen oil or check out the art and printmaking station. Experience a live tour of the night sky, create an alien alter ego, and view objects in the sky while learning all about the lunar surface.
If you’re not already sold on this awesome evening, they’re offering free parking in the museum garage. You literally have no reason to not show up and enjoy your Friday evening at the Bullock Museum.
