There’s a clear reason why Ramen Tatsu-Ya deserves a place on this list; it is such a popular option as a unique place to dine at in East Austin. This place offers some delicious ramen with several different bowl options to try: pork belly, bamboo, pepper, a marinated egg, seaweed, and scallions in a savory pork bone broth. Some options may sound intimidating, but trust me…as a picky eater myself, it’s worth it to try something out of your comfort zone. It might even end up being one of your new favorite foods! One tip to add is that there is a suggested rule when it comes to eating your ramen. Make sure to sip your broth before digging into the noodles, and to slurp on your noodles as loud and shamelessly as possible! I’m only kidding, but do enjoy your ramen and bring some friends along to try it, too.

Ah Sing Den is known for both its great drinks and food options. As another unique place to dine at in East Austin, it is perfect for an ideal late-night snack stop. The space and atmosphere is impeccable as they have accented and embellished light fixtures, tropical colors and cozy tables. This place offers notable craft cocktail programs comprised of both signature and classic cocktails. A popular one to order and try is the Burmese Mission, crafted with Thai basil and syrup made with a Japanese spice mixture. Although the cocktails are mighty delicious, one must not forget about the food! From salmon nori cigars, mussels and dessert…the menu is known as small but innovative!

A big reason that Hillside Farmacy is such a unique place to dine at in East Austin is the history that it embodies. Previously a drugstore, Hillside Farmacy has been lovingly restored and transformed into a truly unique restaurant and bar. Inspired by Texas‘ first African American pharmacist, it focuses on classic home-style dishes, from blueberry pancakes with brown butter to house made classic egg and sausage breakfast plates. It’s a go-to classic for people that want a fresh, yummy, quality breakfast.

The people of East Austin are raving about Salt & Time Butcher shop. This place is a two-in-one deal: part butcher shop, part restaurant. The reason why it is so popular is that they serve cold cuts like no other. When you’re wanting to have a girl’s night filled with wine and cheese, this is the place to go for all your charcuterie board needs! They have a case filled with house-cured salami, meaty sandwiches and craft beers. Guests can also purchase other meats from a huge selection that they offer: chops, roasts, sausage, charcuterie and more.

This restaurant conveys the spirit of the neighborhood in which you automatically feel a warm, homey, sensation when stepping into this environment. Launderette is the best to come and enjoy some nice cocktails over other “snack bites”. We recommend trying the blistered shishito peppers served with a delicious retro Green Goddess dipping sauce as well as the Nonna’s meatball in rich Sunday gravy with slices of rustic grilled bread!

If you’re looking for an outdoor experience with an amazing happy hour, get yourself to Jacoby’s! Really they have one of the best happy hour menus in town, but even better is their outdoor, backyard patio. It over looks the lake and has ample space to host big parties.
