Now for the good stuff, the best things to do in Austin this weekend!
1. Cool Summer Nights
Did someone say “cool summer night?” In Texas? In July? Woah, count me in!
For real though, the Bullock Texas State History Museum feels your pain of the Texas heat and have just the solution. A fun, family-friendly, and free night filled with food, drinks, music, and plenty of activities.
Activities include access to activated exhibits with living history participants, a photo booth, live music, improv performances, community chalk art project, and so much more. There will also be a cash bar serving up specialty themed Tito’s cocktails and Story of Texas Café will have food available for purchase. Be sure to try the complimentary samples from Waterloo Sparkling Water and Addison Coffee Roasters!
It gets even better! Cool Summer Nights is a monthly series so if you are unable to make it this week, you can always catch the next one.
Oh, AND there is complimentary parking in the museum’s garage!

I typically try to focus solely on things to do in Austin during the weekends and I’ve decided the weekend is going to start early on Wednesday evening this week. One of my favorite Austin summer traditions is back for the third time this summer and I am SO pumped.
Grab your pups and round up your friends for an evening of great music in Zilker Park. This month’s Blues on the Green features Ben Kweller with Como Las Movies!
Be sure to arrive early as Blues on the Green is an extremely popular Austin event. Parking at Zilker is nearly impossible, so plan ahead to either take CapMetro, rideshare, scooter, bike, or look into parking elsewhere and walking.
There is one more Blues on the Green taking place in August, so if you are unable to make it this week plan ahead so you don’t miss the last one of the summer!
JUL 17 | 8PM–10PM
Want to take part in a record-breaking, drone-captured, cheers? Well, that is exactly what the plan is for Austin Cheers Fest!
Kick off the fun-filled evening at Rio Rooftop Pool where there will be a live DJ spinning tunes, an Instagrammable photo wall, cotton candy cocktails, and 200 bottles of champagne. That’s just the start!
At 7PM, take part in a Guinness World Record champagne cheers. Following the record-breaking cheers, head out to the participating bars and receive drinks specials all evening long. End the night at Concrete Cowboy’s upstairs area with a neon themed after party!
The theme of the event is 90s neon! So round up your crew and pull out your bright colored spandex, it’s going to be one totally bangin’ day!
There are two ticket levels, general admission, and VIP. General admission includes 1 champagne cocktail, a stadium cup, $3 champagne specials at all participating bars, entry to raffle giveaway, and more. The VIP ticket includes everything that the general admission ticket does as well as the access to the VIP section, complimentary cotton candy cocktails, and complimentary champagne bottle service!
Bringing all things that scream Austin to one spot. Live music, great food, and weird people. What more could you ask for?
The artists performing this week are Jaimee Harris, Sydney Wright, Graham Wilkinson & Kalu trio, Superfonicos, and Trouble In The Streets.
Be sure to bring blankets, chairs, and your reusable water bottles with you. There will be food and alcohol available for purchase.

Running isn’t all fun and games, but once you add brunch at the end, well then it becomes all fun and games.
Round up your running buddies and get ready because it’s a race to the finish line. Meet at Ready to Run and head out for a 5K at 7:30AM followed by mimosas, bagels, and coffee!
What more can you ask for?
