Bastrop Patriotic Festival, Fun Run & 5K and More Evens in Austin This Weekend

A Story By

We’re heading into the last weekend of June, which means next up is the 4th of July. However, before we can dive into all the best 4th of July in Austin, we have one last weekend to tackle.

For those of you searching for fun things to do in Austin this weekend, you are in luck. Head out to Republic Square for Wing-A-Rama–a tasty hot wings festival–or sip on rosé at Eberly’s 3rd annual Rosé Soirée.

If you’re looking to start your Fourth of July festivities early then head over to Bastrop this weekend for a two-day festival.

Kick off the festival Saturday morning with a 5K or Fun Run 1K. Runners and other attendees are invited to hang around for the day to enjoy all the festival has to offer.

Activities include sand volleyball, train rides for the kiddos, eating contests, a car show, a kids zone, live music, and end day two of the festival with fireworks!

This festival is jam-packed with things to do ALL weekend long. Check out the complete lineup here!

We don’t need a reason to drink rosé but you better believe we sure as heck will thrive in this environment. Not only is Eberly one of our favorite restaurant/venues, but the new and improved rooftop bar they finished this year is absolutely beautiful–and now you have a reason to check it out!

This South Lamar gem will be dedicating their entire space to an afternoon of rosé, what more could you ask for? There will be over 40 different types of still and sparkling wines from all over the world for you to taste. Oh, and you better believe they’ll have a frozé machine. Because what kind of summer rosé soirée doesn’t offer frozé? We don’t want to know, that’s for sure!

The Eberly chefs will prepare tasty bites to pair with your wine samples. To make it even better, there will be a candy bar–did we mention thriving already, because that is what you’ll be doing.

In addition to all this amazing stuff, they will have yard games, a live DJ spinning tunes, a photo booth, and nail art. Space is limited so grab your tickets while you still can!

**UPDATE: The makers of Wing-A-Rama have decided to postpone the Chicken Wing Festival until the fall. While they have not decided on a date, we will keep you posted and update you once they’ve announced it.

To fill the void of those delicious chicken wings you we’re so ready to consume we have put together a list of 10 restaurants you can snag some for yourself this weekend!
Pluckers Wing Bar
Home Slice Pizza
Arpeggio Grill
Hoover’s Cooking
The Tavern
The Jackalope
Lucy’s Fried Chicken**

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Wing-A-Rama, duh!

Back by popular demand and larger than in years past, this year’s Chicken Wing Festival is taking over Republic Square this Sunday. Attendees will enjoy unlimited (that’s right, unlimited) wing tastings from some of Austin’s most popular restaurants.

The chefs and restaurants will be competing for the title of ‘Best Chicken Wing.’

Meanwhile, those who are brave enough have the option to compete in the flaming hot chicken wing-eating contest. Our mouths are on fire just thinking about it!
