Go for a Swim

Get solace from the Florida sun with a dip in the cool water of Honeymoon Island! With approximately four miles of shoreline, local beach lovers and tourists alike will find a variety of activities with areas designated for swimming on the main beach. Lucky for pet lovers, there’s even a pet beach on the south end!

Take a break from playing in the water by looking for for some shells to take home! The area offers great shelling and walking on the north end, which turns into a sand spit for a quick stroll into the water.

Enjoy a Hike on the Nature Trails

If you are looking for amazing spots for hiking in Florida, then we have the spot for you! The nature trails of Honeymoon Island are gorgeous, you’ll be surprised to find the deep forests surrounding this beachy area! Observe one of the few remaining South Florida virgin slash pine stands along the Osprey Trail, which provides visitors with approximately 2.5 miles of walking and hiking.

Go Kayaking

One of the favorite activities of Tampa Bay locals is kayaking! Whether you have your own kayak or you need a rental on the fly, there are so many kayak rental companies in the Honeymoon Island area. We love to kayak in this area because of how beautiful it is! You will totally feel far from the city and the hustle and bustle of daily life. We recommend exploring Pelican Cove, which lies between Honeymoon Island’s sand spit and nature trail.

Relax in a Hammock

Now let’s say that you don’t want that much activity. Sometimes you just need to sit back and relax! When you want a chill activity on the weekend or after work, we recommend relaxing in a hammock. Set up your hammock amongst the trees in Honeymoon Island’s beach or parks! It’s the perfect spot to hole up with a good book to catch up on some reading or even just to take a nap – we won’t judge! Watch the waves and the peaceful wildlife pass you by as you relax in a hammock amongst the trees.

Go for a Bike Ride

Enjoy the fresh air with a bike ride! There are so many amazing trails along Honeymoon Island Beach for you to enjoy! Take a long ride down their three-mile long trail for a refreshing bike ride! You will get enjoy the area’s unique scenery of virgin slash pine forests. Definitely add this activity to your Florida bucket list!

You cannot do Florida without fishing! Whether you’re new to fishing or a seasoned aficionado, fishing is a super relaxing activity for you to enjoy. It’s one of our favorite things to do at Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island State Park! Surf and pass fishing can yield catches of flounder, snook, trout, redfish, snapper, whiting, sheepshead, pompano, Spanish mackerel, cobia, ladyfish and tarpon.
