Things to Do in Memphis Weekend Guide

A Story By
Our Mission is clear. “Connect the World Through Events.”

And while that Mission may sound simple, it’s not always easy. The last few months have not been easy. And certainly, the last few days have not been easy. Our hearts break over the clear and painful fracture in our country.

There are times to stay silent. Now is not one of those times.

We stand with those who are peacefully protesting the grave injustice of George Floyd’s death. Every man and woman is entitled to their unalienable rights of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Over 20,000 days ago Dr. Martin Luther King said, “Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.”

We cannot say it better.

Some say that America is a “failed experiment.”  We think they are wrong. At its core America is hope. Hope can move mountains. Hope can heal.

Others say that we will get back to “normal” soon. We hope that never happens. We are the architects of our future. It’s our choice to let those led by self-serving political interests define our normal. We choose NO to normal. Our “new normal” is what we make it.

Connecting the World Through Events is our Mission because events are where we bond around common interests and experience life together. Together. No matter the color of our skin. Together.

Fractures can be repaired.

As our city begins to open we hope that you can find joy in connecting with one another safely at an event this week. Here are some of our favorites:
Levitt Shell

The Summer Series at Levitt Shell is an ongoing summer tradition Memphians wait all year for. Now, that large gathering pose as a safety hazard, The Shell is bringing its summer series to you!

Join them on Facebook Live this Friday to watch a live recording of Bodeans, maybe grab a cold one from Crosstown Brewing Company, and bring the vibes of the lawn to your living room!

There’s no need to go another weekend missing out on all of your favorite flicks!

Head over to Malco Summer Drive-In and catch one of the amazing new movie releases from the comfort of your own car.

Don’t worry, all your favorite theater snacks are still available at the concessions counter, accompanied by some new safety precautions that will keep your family safe and ready for a ton of movies, both new and old!

If you’re still not ready to head out, there are tons of virtual events still continuing. One of our favorite ongoing events is Virtual Bingo on Facebook Live.

Print off your card, cover your numbers, and hope for the chance to win a prize from Memphis Made Brewing Company!

This may be the last virtual event presented by Cerrito Trivia, so you won’t want to miss this.

One of Memphis’ favorite summer highlights is Food Truck Thursdays Downtown.

Head over to Downtown Memphis’ Facebook after grabbing a bite from a Downtown restaurant.

Your favorite DJ’s will join in on the fun while playing all the top hits virtually!
