Local Business Spotlight
While Maple Street Biscuit Company has branched out, with locations in Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas – its first location in San Marco opened ten years ago with some of the flakiest, butteriest, drowning-in-gravy biscuits locals had ever tasted.
Since being bought by Cracker Barrel, Maple Street Biscuits are popping up all around Jacksonville with currently seven locations! We personally love the Squawking Goat, which features fried chicken breast, a goat cheese medallion and sweet, pepper jelly — all lovingly embraced in a warm, savory biscuit. It’s Jacksonville’s way of saying “good morning, let’s eat.”
Our tip: Now that Maple Street has partnered with DoorDash, you barely even have to get out of bed to enjoy it! *Drum roll….commence the weekend!
For the first year ever, Jacksonville is honoring its African American roots with recognition of Emancipation Celebration Day. The festival will be hosted at the newly coined James Weldon Johnson park and aims to educate the public about Jacksonville’s past racial inequalities while celebrating the continued effort for unity. The event will feature local African American food trucks and vendors and live performances from Jacksonville’s best musicians, dancers, and poets.
🗓 May 20 | 11AM–8PM
