Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just looking for a place to study, we’ve done the research on the best spots in the area. Check out our master guide for local details on the best coffee shops in Ybor City!
Blind Tiger is a speakeasy inspired, coffee shop with multiple locations in the Tampa area. Our favorite is located on the main street of Ybor City! This combines a tattoo shop aesthetic, with modern coffee shop accents. With super comfy seating and board games, this is a great place to hang out and study.
We love their signature drinks, including their vegan espresso affogato and the Dirty Thaiger! This original iced creation has a double shot of espresso, thai tea, sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon. They also offer a wide range of breakfast and pastries. Check out their housemade blueberry muffins!
Foundation Coffee is a “specialty coffee” shop dedicated to the art of craft coffee. For the company, delivering quality is not a goal, it’s a standard. The owners over at Foundation strive hard daily to learn and practice brewing methods from the best teachers in the industry. Whether you like coffee to help start the day, or whether it’s about fellowship with a close friend or the fuel that gets you through the day. Foundation Coffee is the place to be! Remember to keep in mind that they have two different locations: one in Ybor and another in Riverview.
La Creperia Cafe
While not centered around just coffee, La Creperia Cafe in Ybor City has an amazing coffee selection. If you’re looking for an authentic cafe con leche, this is the spot for you. Serving Gavina coffee from southern Cuba, their creations are the real deal. They even have “Byzantine Coffee”, a Greek coffee that is not available at other coffee shops in Ybor City. If you haven’t heard of Greek coffee, it is a sweet, cold and frothy espresso drink that’s similar to a frappe.
Finish off your trip by pairing your drink with one of their sweet crepes. We recommend the Maestro, a warm nutella and Grand Marnier liquer crepe.
La Segunda Bakery
Founded in 1915, La Segunda is a traditional Tampa bakery and Ybor City coffee shop. Serving only the classic drinks, they’ve perfected the traditional cafe con leche. If you’re new to Tampa food, we recommend going with a classic combination – cafe con leche and buttered cuban bread. Dip their pressed cuban bread into your coffee and have your life changed. You won’t want to miss this salty and sweet combination.
They are also known for their cakes and cookies, commonly ordered for parties or gifts. For a sweet treat to go with your coffee, we recommend the guava and cheese turnover!
22nd Street Coffee
22nd Street Coffee combines classic Cuban coffee with the fun spins that new Tampa restaurant culture has to offer. We recommend the Coño Coffee – a rich combination of cold brew and sweetened condensed milk. Check out their changing drink specials for new creations! Maybe the Firework Latte? This creation has pop rock candies layered on top for a fun surprise.
This coffee shop is great for meetings or to get some work done. Locals find 22nd Street Coffee to be the most peaceful and quiet of the coffee shops in Ybor City.
