Mayfield Park is a historic estate filled with gardens, palm trees, and peacocks! If your looking to escape the city for a bit, you’ll definitely feel far from home in this West Austin nature preserve.
For an activity to accompany your picnic, plan a trip to Barton Creek Greenbelt so you can swim between snacks.
If you’re not interested in being near the water, there’s 12 miles of trails to pick your perfect picnic place. You can even hang up your hammock for a post picnic nap!
Escape Austin and head out to Johnson City for an afternoon at Pedernales Falls State Park.
Take in the falls while enjoying a picnic at one of the picnic tables located throughout the park. You can also set up your picnic on one of the rocks in the middle of the falls while enjoying your meal!

The 360 Overlook, or Pennybacker Bridge, is a just short hike to enjoy the most perfect sunset watching site while enjoying your picnic. The Colorado River, Downtown Austin, and the hill country make for some of the best views in Austin!
