Austin is full of amazing places to hang out while enjoying food, drinks, and friends. Trying to plan a unique date night or an outing with your pup? We put together a list of the best spots to have a picnic in Austin!

If you like dogs and good views, Zilker Park is your go-to spot for a picnic in Austin.

The city skyline is phenomenal any time of day and the park is never too crowded. You might have to protect your food from some hungry canines- or you can share!

Mayfield Park is a historic estate filled with gardens, palm trees, and peacocks! If your looking to escape the city for a bit, you’ll definitely feel far from home in this West Austin nature preserve.

With just 106 stairs to the top, the views from Mount Bonnell are absolutely unbeatable. Feast like a king while overlooking the lake, western hills, and downtown as far as the eye can see.

For an activity to accompany your picnic, plan a trip to Barton Creek Greenbelt so you can swim between snacks.

If you’re not interested in being near the water, there’s 12 miles of trails to pick your perfect picnic place. You can even hang up your hammock for a post picnic nap!

Escape Austin and head out to Johnson City for an afternoon at Pedernales Falls State Park.

Take in the falls while enjoying a picnic at one of the picnic tables located throughout the park. You can also set up your picnic on one of the rocks in the middle of the falls while enjoying your meal!

6. 360 Overlook

The 360 Overlook, or Pennybacker Bridge, is a just  short hike to enjoy the most perfect sunset watching site while enjoying  your picnic. The Colorado River, Downtown Austin, and the hill country make for some of the best views in Austin!
