Raise your hand if you could add another indoor house plant to your growing collection 🤚 The family-owned plant shop Yura Vine Brothers will have exactly what you’re looking for, we are sure of it. Brothers Sam and Aaron Rodas, who relocated from Peru to Tampa Bay, are proud to have their concrete jungle located in the heart of Tampa. The two brothers have a combined total of more than 100 house plants and are excited to share their love with the great people of Tampa Bay.
If you’re new to the world of being a plant parent, don’t worry. Aaron and Samuel can point you in the right direction and have you exercising your green thumb in no time. Before you run out the door to check out the amazingly beautiful plants, check out their Instagram page for some inspiration.
Aaron: I’ve been here 21 years now. Left Peru when I was 18. Sam arrived a few months later.
Samuel: Our family has been in Tampa since 2001. We moved here from Lima, Peru when I was 8 years old.
Aaron: Peru was a challenging place to be at that time (still is lol). We came here for a better future for our family.
Samuel: Like any immigrant family, endless possibilities is what brought us here. The desire to strive and work hard for a better life and become a part of a community.
Aaron: Fun Facts about me??? How about besides being a plant shop owner I also kill bugs? 😂 I have a pest control company and to make the combination even a little more unique, I also have an Amazon Store where I sell mainly beauty items such as mascaras, foundations, perfumes, etc. I’m also a great cook. When I try something I can tell you the ingredients just by tasting the food.
Aaron: The love that I have for my little brother! He came to me with his idea and together we built, at least for me, the most amazing business!
Samuel: What made us want to open Yura Vine Bros was the desire to share our passion of nature with the community. We’ve met so many amazing people because of Yura Vine and that is something that has really touched our lives.
Aaron: People are always waiting for the right moment to start something… There is no right moment. If you don’t go for it with all your love, passion and hunger for success you will never know… so just go for it!
Samuel: Hustle. Work hard and do the right thing. To this day I still have my full time job as a financial analyst for Ford Credit. Having a full time job all while running the business is a lot, but at the same time, probably the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had.
Aaron: I love playing soccer. I play about 3 times a week with a group that I started with only 4 guys now I have a team of 30 and a wait list of 6!
Samuel: My favorite thing to do in Tampa is work out at Camp Tampa. Camp is a gym that has become almost like a second home. The people there have become my community and I highly admire the owners’ business model.
Aaron: Seafood Heights in Seminole Heights is an amazing place where you can buy top-quality fish, oysters, shrimp, and more. You pick what you want (fresh) and the owner surprises you with his own creation!
Samuel: A hidden gem I love is going to Catch 23 restaurant in Westchase. They have some of the best seafood in Tampa. Their Chilean sea bass is insanely good! Fun fact I was actually a busboy there during high school. First job ever!
Aaron: I’ve lived in Carrollwood for the last 10 years, I love it here because it is quiet and a safe neighborhood but for fun, I definitely like the character and awesome places in Seminole Heights.
Samuel: My favorite Tampa Bay neighborhood is the Hyde park neighborhood. It’s such a classic place with so much character. Part of the reason we opened our store there.
Aaron: It would start by taking my son to school, my son brightens my days. Come back home to grab a cup of coffee with my lovely wife Leia. Then go to Yura Vine for a few hours, have you heard of that place?? lol. Then pick up my son from school and go to Yogurtology (his favorite place) and go back home to wait for mommy to just chill for the rest of the afternoon and at night go play soccer.
That is for the weekdays. My wife and I both love karaoke, we are both terrible singers but after a bottle of wine she is my Gaga and I’m her Cooper! We do Karaoke nights at home at least 2 times a month just her and me… I know! Losers lol… but we have lots of fun!
Samuel: My perfect day in Tampa would be starting my morning with a walk down Bayshore with my husband Guilherme. Having a bite at one of our favorite restaurants. Led by spending the day taking care of my over 100 houseplants. And walking with my husband in the evening around the oak-covered streets in my Seminole Heights neighborhood.
