Here at UNATION we love a good night out at a wine bar.  We just can’t resist getting to try new wines from all around the world… especially when paired with some incredible charcuterie. Whether it’s for date night, a girls’ night with your nearest and dearest, or a birthday or anniversary celebration, there’s never a bad time for wine! If you love wine bars but weren’t sure which ones to try first, you’re in luck!

We‘ve put together a list of our favorite wine bars in Houston, and trust us, you can’t go wrong trying any one of these. From casual to funky, to upscale, there’s a wine bar here for every vibe. Read on to discover fantastic wine finds in H-town!? ?

1. 13 Celsius

If you are looking for a little slice of Europe, this spot in Midtown will give you just what you need. 13 Celsius is housed in a 1920s-era building and aims to bring the class of a European wine bar, but still has a dash of the Texas charm we all know and love.  You’ll have a great time sipping wine on a Mediterranean-style patio, and the menu is definitely not to be slept on.

Sample a large selection of reds, whites, sparkling, rosé, and even specialty orange wines. If you’ve got friends who aren’t huge wine fans, not to worry.  13 Celsius is also stocked with a diverse beer menu.  You can find beers from Texas, Germany, and beyond. While you enjoy your drinks, snack on a charcuterie board, panini, or baked brie, all made with the highest quality cheeses and meats. This is definitely one of the best Wine bars in Houston!

At this casual and chic establishment, Sable Gate Winery is an operating winery passionate about crafting high-quality wine with grapes from around the world.  For a really cool and unique experience, you can blend your own wine at Sable Gate, complete with your custom label. How neat! ?

For the less adventurous among us, there are plenty of non-DIY wines to sample. With a tasting flight, you can try 5-7 glasses, all carefully chosen by Sable Gate’s owners and winemakers. Or drop in for a glass or two– we recommend the Bikini Bottom sangria, Madrina white, or the Big Daddy red. And with new flavors in the works all the time, there is always something good to try at Sable Gate!

With affordable glasses of chardonnay, rosé, sauvignon blanc, red blends, and more, there is sure to be something for every taste. ?

Food options are just as great, with coastal calamari, wine-infused Brussels sprouts, Ahi tuna tacos, and bayou cream chicken, for a start. There aren’t many things in this world better than wine and food, and our friends at City Cellars are experts in both.
