When you think of best grub in Austin, eating dumplings probably isn’t your first thought. But we are here to change that up for you because there just so happens to be some great spots to chow down on these savory wontons.

Whether it’s a classic dumpling filled with meat or veggies, or a slurpy soup one, here are five locations where you can find the best dumplings in Austin.

For a quick fix of some of the best dumplings in Austin, head over to the fairly new Steamies Dumplings location. Usually, you can only find pork dumplings (or meaty ones) at restaurants, so Steamies is good for a little more. They have chicken and vegan options on the menu, and everything is made with local ingredients.

If you’re not down to get dumplings today, you can even pick up a frozen pack from them, to warm up on a day where you crave it at home.

Heading north of downtown? You need to check out Fat Dragon! This low-key Asian spot serves homemade dumplings like it could be straight out of your mom’s kitchen.

Although their menu changes, they currently have 13 options for dumplings on their menu and one of them has chocolate fudge! That’s something new! And if dumplings aren’t your thing, you can go for egg rolls, soup, or one of their many entree options.

Dumplings or no dumplings, you need to go try Wu Chow if you haven’t been yet! But for the dumplings, it’s an even better incentive. Wu Chow has amazing handmade steamed dumplings, that take 20 minutes to prepare.

Choose from chicken, pork, or beef, but we highly recommend their Shanghai Soup Dumplings, made with pork shoulder, ginger, garlic, scallions, red vinegar, and sesame oil. This spot serves some of the best dumplings in Austin so head on over!
