A Story By

Everyone has an opinion about which are South Lamar’s most romantic restaurants. Believe me, Austin has no shortage of options. Whether you’re looking for a place to pop the question or to celebrate your anniversary, you can find the perfect date-night restaurant on this list.

After trying these spots out for ourselves, we have narrowed down the most romantic restaurants for date night on South Lamar!

Loro is one of my many favorites on this list. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting with a boho rustic feel, string lights, and a neat array of light fixtures. Serving some of the best Asian smokehouse cuisine around town, Loro’s menu boasts savory and barbecue-inspired flavors.

Loro is also known for its expertly curated wine list and knowledgeable staff whose suggestions will have you enjoying a glass of wine from some of the best regions. This romantic restaurant on South Lamar is the perfect spot whether you are on your first date or hundreth date!

Soto Restaurant is a unique Japanese restaurant located on South Lamar. Executive Sushi Chef Andy, has worked as the executive chef in some of the best Japanese restaurants in the world, so you know the food is guaranteed to be incredible!

If you’re wanting a breathtaking experience, try the omakase at Soto. The presentation of the courses and playful flavor combinations are sure to impress your date! This is an all-time favorite romantic restaurant for date night on South Lamar.

There are several great farm-to-table brunch and dinner inspired restaurants in Austin, but Odd Duck is at the forefront! We recommend taking your date here for a scrumptious Sunday morning brunch or casual happy hour bites.

This place serves food on mismatched vintage flatware, which makes it event more quaint. Odd Duck is truly one of our team’s favorite brunch and dinner restaurants in the whole city and it makes the perfect date night restaurant on South Lamar.

SUN | 11AM-8:30PM
MON-THU | 5PM-8:30PM
FRI | 5PM-9:30PM
SAT | 11AM-9:30PM

Uchi is the place to go for a celebratory meal with your significant other. It is a little on the pricey side, however, completely worth it. Uchi remainsone of the most romantic restaurants for date night on South Lamar by providing guests with a non-traditional approach to Japanese dining and the freshest sushi around!

Each dish is truly a work of art. This is one of the few places people always say they slow down to appreciate every last bite!

📍801 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

Our team just had to add Eberly to the list of romantic restaurants for a date night on South Lamar, as it has quickly become a popular spot for a night out. The atmosphere and environment are filled with an open concept space, an open-air patio, and a beautiful dining room with a mixture of new-age and old-school style.

This is the perfect place to share a delicious classic cocktail with your date while you dine! From filet, braised short rib, snapper, and delicata squash. I personally recommend ordering a side of the shells and cheese which comes with gruyere, aged cheddar, and parmesan garlic breadcrumbs for food you will absolutely melt over!

📍615 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

Come to Ramen Tatsu-Ya and slurp your noodles as you indulge in a bowl of delicious, rich, decadent flavorful ramen. This place is one of the top restaurants for ramen in Austin and is perfect for people who enjoy fellowship over some good classic food.

The owners serve the good stuff, the type of ramen that you can normally only find in Japan and New York, right here on South Lamar. Just imagine savory pork bone broth, noodles, chasu, ajitama, and of course a multitude of topping options to add to your ramen. If it is your date’s first time coming, we recommend the Tonkotsu Original, a classic and popular favorite. Ramen Tatsu-Ya is one of our go-to spots when choosing among the many romantic restaurants for date night on South Lamar!

📍1234 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704

If you love quirky and intimate home décor, you will surely love Aviary Wine & Kitchen! It’s the cutest place with some of the yummiest food. This restaurant is French- and Mediterranean-inspired, but it’s rooted in seasonal Texas ingredients.

We recommend the sweet potato gnocchi which is tossed in a very light lemon and butter sauce which makes way for salty slices of fried pork belly. Pair a delicious glass of wine with the Aviary Cheese & Charcuterie, a huge cheese, pastrami and meet arrangement with house mustard, cherry tomato jam, black truffle, and peach butter.
