Halal Time

If you’re looking for something semi-healthy but oh so delicious, you need to hit up Halal Time. It’s basically a salad bowl but filled with rice, meat, and their delicious sauces. It definitely spices things up before or after bar hopping down East 6th, and you’ll get your protein in for the day. Do yourself a favor and get the side of fries. They are crispy good!

The Happy Grilled Cheese

Think your favorite childhood grilled cheese, but the adult version. This isn’t just bread and cheese. Happy Grilled Cheese, located outside of the Violet Crown Social Club, has amazing grilled cheese combos. For instance, their ATX Cheesesteak Melt is a combination of mozzarella, queso, thin sliced beef, jalapeño, and onion. Y’all, the cheese with extra queso is so yum, especially as a late night snack.

Rollin Smoke BBQ

Sure, there’s the popular bbq spots here in town, but you can get bbq just as good from a food truck. Located right across from Hotel Vegas, Rollin Smoke BBQ fires up some solid bbq in their pit. We highly recommend their brisket sandwich, cooked to perfection and served on sandwich buns.

Tender Thighs

Though known to Austin, Tender Thighs just rolled their truck onto East 6th and we aren’t complaining. They’re located in the back patio of Shangri-La, and to be honest we go through here just to eat. Although, pairing a beer with our crispy order of chicken thighs is always enjoyable. You definitely need to get their mega sandwich. It even has pimento in it.
